I'm hoping that he's going to end up being Emma's true love since Henry is a product of their brief time together before. I do worry though that he could turn out to be the Big Bad or one of the Big Bads later on since I'm sure he has tons of issues and he might want to take revenge on his father

I kind of hope they do both. Emma may be a product of FTL but she was raised in the real world where happy endings have to be earned and having her true love be an ex-bad guy would be a nice folio to the more cut and dry romances of FTL.

I can see Bae thinking he's doing the right thing and having it go to far (thus becoming one of the big bads). In a lot of ways it would be just like what happened with Rumple and when Bae realizes that he has in effect become his father it would serve as a nice wake up call that maybe their relationship can be saved.

If they do that, however, i don't see how they could do it without Bae using magic and I really don't think that would be something he would dabble in.

I would also love for Bae to turn out to be Emma's true love. :D And if he is in fact Henry's father, I'd like to know how he feels about not being in Henry's life. You'd think after being abandoned by his own father that he'd be desperate to be invovled in his son's life. I'm anxious to see his flashbacks now.

couple that with his possible role as a big bad and things could get interesting.

Yeah, I also have a sneaking suspicion that Baelfire may be a bit darker than what we saw in "Desperate Souls " and "The Return." I have a nagging suspicion that he became the thing he hated most: His father. He spent his childhood trying to help his father let go of power and to stop using such brutality, but after suffering such a traumatic event, Baelfire may have grown up to be just like him. I hope I'm wrong, though. That would be tragic.

I'm thinking about a newspaper article I saw earlier this year, about a teenager named Ray who was found in Germany; he claims his father raised him in the woods, so he has no knowledge of modern life. He said his father died. It was discovered that his story was a hoax, but what's relevant here is how the authorities handled the case. In addition to trying to determine his identity, they gave him physical and psychological tests to find out if he was mentally stable. They didn't immediately believe him but neither did they immediately assume he was lying or insane.

If Bae's lucky, this is what happened to him; being a clever kid, he probably would've figured out soon enough how to convince authorities he was sane and truthful, in which case he probably would've been placed in the foster system instead of some sort of institution.

Ok, let's talk about Baelfire.

There's been recent casting news about a new character named Jack. The same Jack from the Jack and the Beanstalk story. Personally, I think this character will turn out to be an adult Baelfire. We already know that Baelfire was given a magic bean by the Blue Fairy. That on its own is a very big clue. And the description given of the character Jack sounds very much like what an adult Baelfire would be like.

-Running away from his past in a dangerous land
-Mysterious

Ok, that's all I’ve got so far. But coupling the evidence of the magic bean with the recent casting news of Jack, it sounds a lot like Baelfire. Given Bae's history, he probably would be running away from his past. His father is the Dark One, and Bae was shunned because of this. Of course, there's the issue of what exactly is Bae running away from Um...well, there is his father. His father created the world's darkest curse just so that he could locate Bae. Maybe Bae got wind of this and has been on the run ever since. Knowing how Bae feels about magic and his father's actions, he’d probably be tempted to run away from Rumpel rather than welcome with open arms.

And Baelfire would most certainly consider this land new and dangerous. There's technology, cars, guns, bombs, strange music, odd-looking clothes. This world probably freaks him out.

So, that's my two cents on the matter. What do you guys think?

When I saw the Beanstalk rising as a new opening sequence, I immediately thought it would be the theme for Baelfire. When I read the name JACK for casting, I screamed in excitement! I am so for this idea! For a peasant child, modern America could be viewed as a land for 'giants'. Also, what could a peasant do to survive in our world? Steal! They might even justify it since our world has so much. Since Jack wasn't just a thief, but also a murderer - I do worry about what Baelfire got into here. Maybe he's on the run from something in this world as well. If he keeps changing his name, changing locations: might be difficult for papa to find him...

I also bring to the forum Julian Morris for discussion: could he be Baelfire? Or someone else next season?

Scratch my last post: our fandom creators/casting were just trolling us...at this rate, fans and Rumple are going to go insane over the amount of brown haired, brown eyed men that could be Bae running around Storybrooke. Which is probably why he'll pop up as a ginger and we'll all be confused!

Right now I bet they do something like that just to mess with everyone again because they can always make up an excuse like Bae dyed his hair because he was trying to change his appearance or his hair got lighter when he got older. This is so frustrating though because I know I'm going to say that the next actor that they cast that is in the right age range and has either brown eyes or brown hair or both is going to Bae, even though I really should know better.
