Re: The Blue Fairy aka Mother Superior
That kind of makes a little sense. When Rumple is imprisoned, don't they put him in the abandoned mines? The dwarfs, at least Snow's dwarfs, aren't mining anymore, and we're told that's their sole purpose in life and they love it. So it seems that the fairies source of magic is of the non-renewable resources variety; the beans are lost, the mine (at least that one) is closed, and the there is only one enchanted tree remaining. And what's even more interesting is that the most powerful source of magic of all, true love, is elusive to them.

Keegan: I feel like the Blue Fairy had something going on with Rumpelstiltskin once… And I think it was painful for her to see what had happened to him. So I think she was trying to save Rumpel too when she gave Baelfire that magic bean, knowing that he could go there. And it was certainly not her fault that he was a coward yet again and didn’t go.
....what??????
there is a sense that I’m setting up Nova to be the next ruler for after the time when Reul Ghorm dies or goes to another realm.
So, fairies don't last forever. Longer, but not forever. Interesting.

Maybe she brought Baelfire to Rumple, if he isn't his biological son? (Not sure how I feel about it, but this quote does open the door for a lot of possibilities!)

Since the Blue Fairy is also the Blue Star, it makes sense that she wouldn't last forever. Very massive stars collapse at the end of their life cycles and become black holes.
Keegan: My guess is that she and Rumpel have a history. It remains to be seen what that history is. I’ve seen a lot of talk on the internet about Rumpel and the Blue Fairy, so I’m curious to know whether the writers have plans for it.
Also, with regards to the Blue Fairy's backstory, I think there is some connection to Rumpel. Yet, even if she is Baelfire's mother, she didn't say so when she gave him the bean in 1x19. Perhaps she didn't to spare his feelings, since Rumpel's wife abandoned them. Also, Rumpel didn't seem to recognize her as his wife, unless he does, but it's less than amicable and that's part of the hostility in their relationship. Perhaps she really just is a compassionate fairy who continued to have sympathy for a boy, perhaps her own, and tried to help him escape the dark magic of his father. She's hard to read, and it isn't certain if she's doing the right thing all the time, but she seems to think she is.
Keegan: I’ve noticed that a lot of people have questions as to whether the Blue Fairy is truly good or evil in her power. I think she’s certainly been working for the good of the realm. Again, you never really know what people’s motives are. As for the level of her power, I don’t think we’ve seen the real gist of it yet. She hasn’t quite had her turn. But I can remember when they talked about Reul Ghorm in the script, and I read that one line—“the most powerful being in all the land.” And then I turned the page and [gasp] it’s the Blue Fairy! So those guys are very smart and methodical about what they put in the story.
Diane: So Reul Ghorm could be the Blue Fairy????
Keegan: Reul Ghorm IS the Blue Fairy. (Note: Reul Ghorm means "Blue Star" in Scottish Gaelic)
It's interesting that Keegan used the words "most powerful being in all the land" to describe the BF.Those were the words used by Grumpy in 1x16 and I think SW in the pilot to describe Rumpelstiltskin. Seems like there may be some sort of power play at work in FTL. The words that the character Morraine used to describe the BF were "original power" who was "bigger than anything." In 1x19, the BF has a funny look on her face after she gives Bae the magic bean, almost like she was secretly delighted to be sending Bae away from Rumple. Another possibility is that she may have wanted to transport Rumpel out of FTL, because she said his dark magic didn't mix well with fairy magic.

Perhaps the beans are like other enchanted objects in stories, in that the beans kind of go where they want.
Or have ways of protecting / taking care of themselves.
