Does Emma have magic?
Does Emma have magic?
I was thinking today about Emma not believing. I think that NONNIE started that excellent thread asking why she should. Then I rewatched last night's episode. And I wondered what is it about Emma that will save SB? She is SW and Charming's daughter saved by passage through a enchanted tree stump. Was she born with magic? SW and Charming have no magic that we have seen, unless you count true love's kiss as magic. So what is that Emma could actually offer the people of SB that would save them? Her belief in them? Reminds me of some old movie I watched where the end was for Fairytales to exist someone has to believe, so don't stop believing. Anyone remember that movie? Was it the Neverending Story?

I actually think that Emma has some sort of magic even if it is just in her belief. Though i think that some of it is happening without her believing, but you can see her wonder like when she blew out the candle on her cupcake in the pilot and right then someone knocked she looked down like did i do that and when she put on the badge and right then the mines fell in she thought for a second did i do that. I am not exactly sure how it all works though.

And in that moment when they believed they both got this look in their eyes like the knew and by knowing they believed and then just like that they lost the hold on their body and switched. It was a crazy movie.

Definitely. Belief has A LOT to do with her magic. I think in order for her magic to be fully "activated," she has to believe first.

Re: Does Emma have magic?
It is like each step she takes toward allowing herself to love and care for Henry and stay in his life has had some impact -- clock starting, sinkhole, etc.. For each life she has poured a little care into, even for a moment, it has had an effect -- Ashley keeping her baby, Ruby finding herself, etc.
She allowed herself to care for Graham and the impact was huge, he finally remembered. And we have seen MM's character become stronger as Emma has befriended her, although I admit her most caring scenes for MM were in "Hat Trick", so if that were some sort of trigger for people to remember who they are, that one should have done it. Thinking back, I am kind of disappointed about that.
Anyway, I'm not sure where I was going with that, but keep trying to find some kind of thread that says this is the trigger, this is what is needed to break the curse.
Maybe, Rumpel implanted a "seed of magic" in the curse to be carried by Emma to the new place they would be living -- 'land without magic". That might explain his comment to August that he saw things changing and wasn't sure, didn't want to take a chance with Regina. That might also explain why the Mad Hatter/Jefferson disappeared into the hat she made. Emma may be carrying the magic to restore FTL but needs to believe for it to grow and save them all.
Bear with me, I'm processing here.

I believe that true love is part of it, but aren't a lot of children born from true love? Of course not all, but a lot are. So, what exactly is it about Emma's magic that makes her perfect for this curse? Snow and Charming didn't have anything specifically magical about them, so why does Emma even have magic? I can't help but think that she carries a fair bit of dark magic in her. Rumpel is using her as a tool to break this curse. She's the key to breaking "the curse to end all curses." And like stated before, she didn't inherit any magic from her parents. So, this leads me to think that she has a mixture of good magic born from true love, and the dark magic that Rumpel infused her with to break the curse.
Ow, my head hurts.

Now that would be original.
I guess I'm asking myself is Emma magic or does she carry magic to be restored, or does she herself possess magic she can wield? I'm going to have to take some time to go back and listen to the few things people have said about Emma and her magic -- Jefferson, August, and Mr. Gold. Hmm... maybe transcripts will help
