If REGINA IS NOT MAYOR??????

IF REGINA has been asked to resign as mayor... who would you want to see as the next mayor of STORYBROOKE?

What character would be able to run the town.... PC / David is too busy being sheriff and trying to get to Snow and Emma. Who else in town has the ability to rally the troops and deal with the other mundane details of running a town?

They probably don't really need one, because this isn't an ordinary town where real world systems apply. This is a town of fairytale characters, and there's currently a prince in charge as Sheriff. They're used to living in a system where royalty rule, so the way SB is operating now, is what they're used to.

I guess Snow could become Mayor once she gets back, (and Emma could be Deputy Sheriff).

I agree with Phee on this one, the ruling class is what these guys are used to, Charming looks like he'll be using Red as deputy for the time being & I imagine Blue & the fairies will be helping as well, since they don't have much else on atm

Well, Red actually had experience working for the Sheriff's Department for part of one episode, so maybe Red should be sheriff and Charming should be mayor.

Right now Charming is Sheriff, Mayor (He is both ) or the single unifying authority figure for the town.

Seriously second this. For all everyone knows, he was also a victim of the curse (don't know why Regina hasn't publicized that he created it - yet!) I think Emma was the only person told that he created the curse and she's not around to tell. Even with past histories on the table, Mr. Gold is the only one who can match Regina in power. I can't see anyone believing that Regina has repented, given up magic, and is no longer a threat. Mr. Gold is who you'd want on your side in this magical power-struggle - even when everything tells you he'll continue working all angles.

Also, image is everything in politics. He's back to looking like a human, not a shiny imp anymore. Plus, Belle as a true love has to be good PR. Look at their matching blue and red outfits for next week: Rumple and Belle could pull off a political power-couple!

The only main obstacle would be the Blue Fairy, who KNOWS he was planning to make a curse and find his son since day one of this scheme. But: maybe fear will win out over reason?
