I thought that was a reasonable addition to the story though i think that episode had some wonky plot problems and some weird acting in it. I actually think that they need to do another back story episode of Rumpel before he became the dark one around the time that Bae was born. I never said i think the episodes should be removed just that they could and the show would still make sense.
There is no reason for this to get personal. I do think they are going to kill off Belle eventually or she is going to leave Rumpel. I just can't imagine them wandering around Storybrooke happy. That seems to not work for the plot. This is about plot for me and Rumpel needs to be an antagonist. So either Belle has to be okay with his evil ways or she has to die so he can become more evil or she has to leave him.
Some of your predictions tend to be clouded by your disinterest in Rumpel. So they all tend to follow a similar formula: Make Rumpel suffer. Kill Belle, kill his wife, make him more evil. It's becoming a little too transparent. There are characters that I'm not particularly fond of, but I'm able to see them clearly. I think that's why I want a happy ending for everyone. I see all of the characters for who they really are and I think it's sad. I want them to have a happy ending because none of the current conflicts will ever be resolved without them all having a happy ending. You can't kill Rumpel because killing him won't be solving anything. It'll just be creating another problem. Another Dark One. So, what's the alternative? True love's kiss. A kiss from either Belle or Baelfire would destroy the power of the Dark One entirely. No one has to get hurt.
So no, Rumpel can't stay a villain because if he does, he'll always have a monopoly over the other characters. Emma, Snow, Charming and even Regina are just chess pieces to him. They’re operating in his world. As long as he's the Dark One, he'll always have power and thus, be able to manipulate the others. If you want to solve this whole mess, you have to break Rumpel's curse without creating a new Dark One. That in itself implies that he'll have to get a happy ending of some sort. I know you don't like that, but that's where I see this story going.

The writers brought Belle back into the story so that it would cause more tension. Her story in "Skin Deep" was supposed to end in death, but the writers found a way to bring her back into the main plot. Her very purpose it to cause tension and conflict. So yes, having them walking around intimidating people is probably exactly what the writers want.

That is where we differ. These writers don't create "filler" episodes or "filler" scenes..
every scene is either laying a foundation or planting a seed for future plots. The finale
is a great example of this. Every seemingly insignificant detail comes together at the end in
a big "A-HA" moment.

We differ on this again. OUAT seems to be mainly focused on our fairytales couples having
a happy ending...eventually. With Rumple and Belle, the road to that happy ending will be very
challenging because of the theme of Love vs. Power in that relationship. Just like SW/PC had
the challenge of overcoming wrong decisions and the lack of faith on David's part in SB and forgiveness in MM's part.
Relationships are challenging and the writers are making the characters "work" to get their happy
endings. I mean, no one thinks Gold and Belle are just going to be "wandering" around SB happy..but it will be great to see how their challenges play out and how they arrive at that happy ending.

Rumpel doesn't have to be an all out evil "antagonist" either - I don't think its the writers intention to
paint him or any other character as black and white - as a matter of fact, they have stated just the
opposite.

Ofcourse, its nothing personal. This is a fan forum - not a boxing match. But, I've read your previous posts because we've been posting along some of the same threads and
I know how much the Skin Deep episode troubled you. Its just that sometimes I think there is an
underlying motivation here that doesn't "approve" of this couple and it comes out each time you post
about them even if you don't mean to. Which is fine and funny and we all notice it..

And in the topic of main characters, I agree that the focus is mostly on Snow White, Emma, Rumpelstiltskin, Evil Queen, and Prince Charming but that is mostly due to the fact that their story is intertwined with all the other fairytale characters. This series is built a lot on characters and how they interact with each other and their settings--whether it be in the Fairytale Land or Storybrooke, and that is one of the best parts of it. Plot is great, but so are characters, and many shows or other forms of entertainment focus a lot of the plot and little on the characters.
Lastly, for happy endings, I think everyone in this show is due for one, even if many don't think they deserve one. What people have to remember is that this is still about Fairytales, and not the grim versions of them. The one where there is a happy ending--plus the themes of love, redemption, good vs evil, and power show strong. I don't think characters like the Evil Queen or Rumpelstiltskin will be left out of a happy ending and redemption.

Personally, I would love for everyone to get a Happily Ever After, but I don't know if that will happen and if it does, it probably will not be in any way that we could currently predict.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't theorize, that's what forums are for, just that we should remember our theories may not be true.

Re: Rumpelstiltskin's reaction to seeing Belle
I think that is quite simply for me. When i look at the abusiveness of that situation, it bothers me that people think it is romantic and that Belle should stay with him. And it seems pretty rude to say that you think this idea is funny.
I actually like Rumpel as a character is the thing. And if you don't believe me when i say that then why do you believe me when i say anything. Then everything i say is suspect and how can you believe me when i say i don't like Belle with Rumpel. What is funny to me is that there are characters that i actually don't like and want dead and gone and to never see again and i don't feel that way about Rumpel. Also i am pretty sure that i said i wished Belle would be killed in the finale and not that i actually thought she would. I think that she will be killed eventually or she will just leave Rumpel, both of those things work for the show, in my opinion. What i don't think works is Rumpel being a happy non villain this season. That doesn't work for me.

Re: Rumpelstiltskin's reaction to seeing Belle
It is true that there are many Rumple's fans here. But that's the way it is. That's the way this forum is like. So the person who doesn't like Rumple has two choices: either accept the fact that in their opinions about Rumple they will probably be in minority or do not discuss him here. There is no third way.
I have never seen Rumple and Belle's relationship as abusive. There was only one incident where they had an argument. And it wasn't an ordinary argument. Rumple thought Belle was a traitor who worked with the Queen to make him vulnerable. At that moment he felt hurt, betrayed, probably felt that she pretended that she cared for him to earn his trust. He just lost it. But when he cooled off a bit he came back and didn't touch her. He just told her to leave.
That relationship doesn't show signs of abuse to me. There is no fear on her part, Rumple doesn't hit, rape, torture, humiliate or threaten her. And most importantly I have never heard about an abusive husband/boyfriend who would willingly let his victim leave.
