Queen of Hearts

The second time I watched the Mad Hatter episode I noticed the Queen of Hearts had an elephants trunk and that the two protrusions on each side of her head (somewhat hidden by veil) moved similarly to that of an elephants ears. Anyone else catch this?

I actually thought those were supposed to be heart-shaped. I guess you are meaning those white things behind her dress?

I suspected maybe it was because her secret identity was "the elephant in the room" and it kinda convinces me even more that she's gonna end up being Regina's mother.

I still think she is the nurse from the mental ward. The Queen of Hearts liked roses and when Regina did go to visit the mental ward, she handed the nurse a rose. Plus everyone in Wonderland is supposed to be "mad" so for the Queen to be the nurse in a mental ward in the real world would be kind of fitting.

I wonder if the reason she uses a speaking tube/horn/thing to talk is because she's wrecked her voice from yelling all the time. In the original story and in the Disney version she was always shouting for people's heads to be cut off. Any singing instructor will tell you that that sort of abuse can ruin your vocal cords.

maybe the Queen of Hearts is disfigured from maybe one time battling Regina. like they had a show down at some point and the Queen of Hearts lost and fled back to Wonderland, badly scarred.

One of the things that I noticed when Regina went to Wonderland and was talking about the Queen of Hearts was that she seemed to be talking about her with an annoyance in her voice - not in a manner I would expect her to be speaking if she were talking about her mother. I think she feared her mother when she was young and then hated her when she was older. I don't think there was ever a time where she was simply annoyed by her.

To be annoyed with someone I think you have to be either their equivalent in terms in status but have them challenging your position, or they need to be someone who is simply constantly driving you crazy. To me it would make sense that the Queen of Hearts is annoying to Regina because they are both queens and both want to be the most powerful in the land. It makes me wonder if maybe the Queen of Hearts was Maleficent. Kind of a frenemy situation going on.

But I'm confused on the whole elephant thing myself. They did clearly want her to look like an elephant.

From what was said between Regina and the Queeen of Hearts it seemed as if they were rivals, not mother and daughter. Cora dominated Regina and it would seemed likely she'd kill Henry before capturing him. She had no qualms about killing daniel whom Regina loved probably just as much as her father.

I think it seems like the Queen of Hearts is Regina's mother. The actor is different though. I am not sure what that means.
