Call out to the Once Male Fans

Postby docxen » April 22, 2012, 3:48 pm

Just wondering how many male fans we have that watch once. Other day in the chat room i discovered besides the wonderful hosts i was the only male fan. Kinda worried me..almost considered giving up once for a more manly tv show...maybe dance moms.

Do my husband and son count??

My husband watches but doesn't get into the podcast or board stuff (although he has considered getting a screen name because he would like to be the Keeper of Ruby's red shorts - with Ruby in them!! ).

My son watches and listens to the podcasts with me but I won't let him get on the boards (he's only 10) - but he is as obsessed with the show as I am!

On a side note . . . my husband and son also watch "Dance Moms" with me  . My son is a ballet dancer so he and his friends all tweet during the show because they can't stand competition dancing (no offense to any comp moms out there - my son did that for a year as well!).

I watch with my boyfriend and sometimes he joins in the live chat, using my username. I often have to remind him to behave.

It shouldn't matter. If you like the show watch it. Who cares what everyone else is watching.

At least one of my guy friends watches for what that's worth (albeit on New Zealand time). I'm trying to convince my Uncle to watch, but he too said he wouldn't tell anyone because it's a "girly" show (this from a man who loves Revenge). I don't think it is, but hjbau's right. Who cares?

Actually, we've received plenty of great feedback from men who watch Once Upon a Time. It may be that the women are just more vocal about their fandom.

Call out to the Once Male Fans

Me and my roommates watch it every Sunday, although I'm the only one who writes on the forums. They think I'm crazy with my theories so I had to turn to the Internet where I could find other crazy people :) but you're not alone dude

On the Once podcast, Jenny is outnumbered by 3 guys. Could be with "us guys" so over-represented in the audio format, the print domain overcompensates for the imbalance.

I watch Once and enjoy it tremendously! This is probably only the second show that I have ever been so active about online, the first being "Lost". I enjoy reading through the theories and comments here on these forums, and enjoy the podcast very much. I have only listened to a few podcasts about other TV shows: Lost, Fringe, and now Once.

I have watched Once since the first episode and enjoy it very much. For me it is the "Split yet connected" storytelling that drew me in. Lost started out ok and then I left after the middle of the first season. It was too complicated for me to understand. Now I just need to catch up on the newer episodes (I am watching via iTunes).
