@sairafaith That's a nice theory, but the problem is that we saw her with fire in her hands. She then threw that fire through the mirror.

eh. she's just short. the dwarves in comparison to, say, Charming, would be more drastic. plus, who's to say how short dwarves have to be? they obviously have more characteristics that classify them as "dwarves" than just their height. they all have similarities in their noses and ears and stuff...it's just that "dwarf" is the name theyve been given to describe them, and our mind automatically thinks "shortness" cause we know what the word means. but anyway, all that to say, YES, i noticed shes only a little bit taller :)

my theory is that yes, maybe she can do SOME magic THROUGH the mirror, but it's limited--for example, maybe she could only make the witch burn with the fire because the fire was already there. she just manipulated what was already there. it's just a theory, but still, im sure this isnt the last time we'll see some magic through a mirror and maybe when it happens again it will shed some light on what the limitations are.

@hjbau I am thinking more EASTERN PHILOSOPHY / RELIGION HERE... If you are bad in your life you regress to a lower life from and you have to earn your way back to being a human and you have to be a good human (The best you can be) in order to reach heaven. I was thinking by being good to Pinocchio, Jimmny earned progress to human form. ..... I thought the other animals now human had progressed but they still had the animal (whale / wolf) qualities that they need to advance beyond.

Of course, if you think about it the EVIL QUEEN is racking up some bad karma here.... but as she has been bad in previous reincarnations... and is repeating the same mistakes / evil she will continue to reap hardship, anger, frustration and failure. But then maybe MAGIC beings are exempt from the retributions of karma.

Not sure how sound my EASTERN PHILOSOPHY/ RELIGION understanding is since it was SO VERY LONG AGO that I had a comparative religions class.... I probably scrambled the meaning and understanding of their concepts.

@NONNIE I think because Jiminy Cricket was born a human and then became a cricket so he is really a guy that is why he is a guy in the real world. I don't think that all the animals from the fairytale world will be humans in the real world. Like the huntsman's wolf was still a wolf and Snow still had blue birds in both worlds.

Off Topic ....... but I am just getting caught up on the podcast. I watch the show casually in that I am usually doing something else when watching the show... making lunches, sewing other household tasks... I do not get into it as deep as you do on the podcast.

My question has to do with Jimmney Cricket in his new incarnation as I am not sure who he is in the show and whose CONSCIOUS is he suppose to be? Is there a new Pionocchio? I am missing connections here. Are there any other reincarnations of other animals in Storybrooke ? I keep looking for the mice from Cinderella that helped her with the housework... ( Wish they would come and do mine, then I could watch sitting down.)

Thanks for any insights,

Nonnie

I laughed out loud when Rumpel did the laugh in this episode. And he did it twice really close together. It is just so funny now for some reason. It is sort of the funny that something gets to be when you haven't gotten enough sleep.

@Jeremy Laughlin Oh yes. You are right. Maybe she has to have been there or line of sight. The limitations are important. Sometimes i feel like things like this are not well thought out in the show.

@hjbau Good thought, and that would be a good limitation, but she disappeared from Snow White and Prince Charming's wedding and appeared back in her own castle (along with the sword :D).

@TheBartCave Good point. We've never seen the Evil Queen content with a quick death. It always has to be slow and painful to satisfy her wrath.

I'm enjoying the reading. Good stuff. The show kind of already answered by the evil queen doesn't just kill her already. The queen says that it would be too easy and she deserves something much worse than a quick death (something like that when she's talking to the Magic Mirror). I know it's an over simplification, but enough an answer to keep us from guessing why.

@docxen@JeremyLaughlin I'd say that happens with almost any TV show. They go one direction and decide to add a twist, so they have to fill in some gaps, somehow.

@Daniel J. Lewis@docxen I might buy the reflection thing, though. I just need SOMETHING to explain why the Queen can't do exactly what she wants when she wants to. I didn't get into it in the blog, but the teleportation trick is potentially problematic as well. It doesn't seem to require much of her, nor is it particularly limited distance-wise.

@docxen I was thinking the same thing. Consider when the Evil Queen first looked at the Huntsman—no, wait, that was a mirror piece, wasn't it?

Like @JeremyLaughlin points out, taking "magic mirror" to "magic reflection" seems an overly convenient and unbelievable stretch.
