My initial thoughts before this episode was that maybe how Prince Charming was able to marry Snow White in the pilot, was that King George died because really, we haven’t seen his real-world counterpart yet. (I still think it’s plausible King George might be dead) but now I think, Abigail went to her dad, King Midas and told him that it was James who went to the lake, got the water that broke the curse over Frederick and Midas, becomes so overwhelmed that his daughter has her true love back, he says that the arrangement with King George is off.

Prince Charming is no longer required to marry Abigail but he still wants to thank Prince James, so what does Midas do? King George wants gold, so Midas gives King George the fortune that he was promised him and King George, reluctantly frees James from marrying Abigail. Because in the end, George never really cared about James’ happiness. He wanted Midas’ fortune.

Everyone gets what they want, and the EQ upon hearing that Snow White gets her happy ending after all, goes on a rampage, thus making an abrupt appearance in the pilot, threatening that this day will be their last happy day and we all know what happens after that.

I really like this idea. Happily Ever After (at least until the EQ unleashes the dark curse).

Interesting ideas, obisgirl. I’ve been wondering too where King George is, seeing as how he has yet to appear in Storybrooke. Your thoughts, though, almost seem too easy. I imagine there’s got to be something more dramatic. I’m falling in more along with the theory that King George is dead and that James will be the one to kill him—thus garnering him control of the castle. Then again, maybe King George isn’t dead. Could he possibly be sent into some sort of exile—either from King Midas or James?

Anyway, the man’s either dead (which might be a bit anticlimatic, unless James is the one who kills him), or he’s alive and that’ll be a big shocking cliffhanger near the end of the season when/if he pops up in Storybrooke. But either way, exile or death (in FTL) are the only ways in which I see how Snow and James end up finally being able to get married.

I hadn’t thought of that. Exile is possible too, but that’s a “very extreme” measure to take. Even if he were exiled somewhere (still in FT land), he would pop up somewhere in Storybrooke.

In order for King George’s death to not be a huge issue, it would have to be witnessed by others. The soldiers probably know that they’re chasing charming, but are they so loyal to King George?

I agree. There has to be some reason why the soldiers who are trying to kill Charming decide instead to let him be their leader. He could defeat his father in front of them. I don’t know. He could do something great for the kingdom. There should be something.
