I was wondering why didn’t Mr. Gold ask Regina to give him the teacup with “please” and avoid giving up his real name?

    1. He has limits with his “please” power over Regina. He did ask her to sit down with “please”. Maybe he either has to wait a while to use the “please” power or asking for the teacup is beyond his “please” power.

    2. Maybe Regina had enough edge over him at the moment to prevent him from using the “please” power.

    3. He could have been weakened by the desire to get the teacup that the “please” power skipped his mind.

    4. Oversight by the writers.

I thought that maybe because Regina won this game. She tricked Rumpel into believing it was Moe and so she gets what she wants and that is for him to admit that he is Rumpel,.

so, you’re saying it was Regina who broke into Mr. Gold’s house and not Moe? 😮

No actually i wasn’t saying that Regina told Moe to break into Rumpel’s house and steal stuff. Moe doesn’t know about the cup or anything, but the queen told him to steal the cup knowing that Rumpel would want it back. And Moe gave the cup to Regina. Rumpel didn’t know that at first so he attacked Moe trying to get the cup back and let out some of his anger about Belle. The queen is therefore responsible for taking the cup and she had the cup so she won that game.

I meant the queen tricked Rumpel into thinking it was Moe’s idea to rob him when we know it was the queen’s.

All he would have had to say was, ” Regina can you PLEASE help me find out who stole my favorite tea cup?” That way he would not have to acknowledge that he was Rumple.

I think she would figure it out if he continued to use PLEASE whenever it was convenient for him.

I do think that if Rumpel would have said can you please give me the cup it would be the same thing as admitting that he was Rumpel so he just told her.

It did seem a little weird, considering he had just blatantly used the power of “please” to command her to sit. But I think these deals can be interpreted hyper-technically, and it is always possible Regina could have dropped it on the floor and then handed him the pieces — a risk Gold wasn’t willing to take.

I also think it suited his agenda to get things out in the open with Regina. Things are clearly starting to happen so he may figure that the time for shadow boxing with Regina is over and it is time to take the war to the next level. I could be wrong but what I DON’T buy is that he just forgot, or was too overwrought with emotion to wield his power.

That’s a good point weedith. If Gold would have said give me the cup please she might have crushed it and then given it to him. Just like how he told her to sit please, she sat, but then she got up and walked away later on.

I don’t think that Rumpel wanted to answer Regina though. And i don’t think he wants things out in the open because he said that he wanted things to go back to the way they were.

Hjbau, I don’t necessarily disagree that Rumpel didn’t want to say his name (he certainly hesitated — although maybe that was just to force her to ask three times. Again. It sure why he would want that)….but I’m trying to think why he would want to keep pretending he didn’t know what was going on. What changes now that Regina has confirmed that he knows? Another question to ponder is, has Gold known all along about the curse and his true identity? Or did Emma’s appearance trigger his memory? After all Graham started to remember.
