I searched for a forum already on this topic and couldn’t find one So here is my theory regarding Regina:
I am thinking after hearing Rumpel tell James that “if she kills the queen, she becomes as evil as the woman whose life she takes” and “once she starts down that path you’ll never get her back” who did Regina kill?
I have been toying with the idea that for some reason Regina kills her own mother for several weeks now. It would make sense according to this statement that she becomes as evil as the woman whose life she takes. Her mother was not in the earlier episodes we saw right before the curse, even though her father was. Regina was evil and selfish enough at that point to kill her father to enact the curse. If for some reason Snow caused a conflict between Regina and her mother that led to Regina killing her own mother, it would make sense that she would blame Snow for all that has gone wrong in her life and her loss of happiness. The only problem is I don’t know who Regina’s mother is or why she would be evil. I believe maybe that will be answered in some upcoming episode. Anyway, Regina killing her own mother possibly answers two questions for me — Why Reigna is evil, and why she might hate SW (if she felt SW caused this to happen).

March 23, 2012 at 9:29 pm #139425lissyParticipantWell she did kill her father, but by then her soul was already tainted. Killing her mother is an interesting theory. The queen has truly reached a dark point of no return. I’m sure the writers will not disappoint if they ever explain why!

okay, but how does snow white fit into this? SW did something terrible.
March 24, 2012 at 5:18 am #139597hjbauParticipantWell Snow will tell Regina’s secret, that Regina is in love with the guy, her mother won’t like this because he is a servant and the difference in social class. And Regina’s mother will kill him because of it and then Regina will think she has to kill her mother. Though that is just a guess. I do think that this is the secret that Snow tells.
I was trying to not be spoilerish by not using the names or the fact that we know a little bit about the guy in the fairytale land because some people don’t want to know.
March 24, 2012 at 3:52 pm #139648SnickerdoodleParticipantSame thought as hjbau, SW tells Cora, Cora confronts Regina and tells her to forget it, Regina considers running away with the stable boy (maybe that is what SW tells), and Cora stops them by killing Regina’s true love (or turning him into a toad) and ruining her happiness, which Regina perceives being SW’s fault. I don’t know, somewhere along the way, the thought occurred to me that perhaps she kills her mother in revenge, but then she loses her mother and her lover and vengeance seldom brings true satisfaction, and when she realizes what she has done she blames it on SW, who if she hadn’t told Regina’s secret to begin with, she perceives none of this would have happened and she would be living happily ever after having run away with her true love. Who knows, maybe her lover is the apple tree. We know she brought the tree with her to the palace.
March 24, 2012 at 5:08 pm #139671killianhookfanParticipantDid anyone else get a brief feeling of regret from Regina in the last episode? When Regina was talking to MM about how she knows what it feels like to lose someone you love and loss can make you do unspeakable things? And then when she told David that evil wasn’t born but made? I felt like in both instances there was a slight hesitation of regret for own heart of darkness. Kind of like she recognizes that she went down a path she shouldn’t have but then her evilness kicked in before there was enough time to really FEEL the regret??
March 24, 2012 at 6:06 pm #139679SlurpeezParticipant@rumplegoldfan: I felt like Regina was gloating over the fact that she’d gotten her revenge by keeping David and MM apart for even longer. She seemed to be taunting both of them and Emma. She said something like, “If MM didn’t kill Kathryn, then who did?” She had a smirk on her face like she believes she can get away with such an evil act. Also, she seemed to relish the fact that MM was behind bars for a crime that Regina herself committed. It was her sense of revenge kicking into overdrive. Perhaps, she does have a guilty conscience somewhere, but it’s like her evil side is kicking into overtime because she observes her grip of power growing weaker as Emma unbinds the curse. First, Graham sided with Emma, then Hansel and Grettle’s counterparts were reunited with their father, Henry always sides with Emma, and now, Kathryn has told David he should be with MM (the very exact thing Regina wants to thwart, the reason she enacted the curse in the first place).
