Question: In the pilot, Snow says about Regina: “she gave me a poisoned apple because she thought I was prettier than her.” How do we get from “I hate Snow because she took away my true love” to “she’s prettier than me?”
[adrotate group="5"]Maybe, and follow the white rabbit here. But maybe, Snow only thinks that she ruined her happiness by having Daniel sent away. Maybe SW doesn’t know that he’s dead, and that she thinks that Regina is trying to kill her for another reason. Like that she is more attractive or “desirable” than Regina and thus why her father seemed to love SW more than her. A bit convoluted or that the writers didn’t think that far.
I don’t think Regina ever told Snow White the full story so Snow White only believes that the queen was jealous of her beauty and has no idea of the real reason.
There’s another thread that also questions this: Does SW know that Daniel is dead?

Snow believes that her father’s love for her is the reason Regina hates her so much. Regina would’ve never confided in Snow again after this event. And who else could have told Snow about what happened to Daniel? No, I think she remains ignorant to this day. She knows she’s the cause for Regina’s pain, but doesn’t quite no the real reason.But Snow told Charming that “She(EQ) thinks I ruined her life” and David asked her “did you”, Snow said “yes”
So Snow know that EQ hates for more than just being pretty!!
And in the letter she gave the Huntsman, Snow said that she knows EQ will never have love in her life because of her, doesn’t she? So I think she must know exactly why EQ hates her.
Maybe we can chalk the line in the pilot up to just one of those things that’s in a pilot that gets tweaked once the show gets picked up? A throwaway line alluding to the iconic “fairest of them all” could be something they’d just chuck in for the hell of it when it’s just a pilot trying to get network execs sucked in.
I’m wondering if the pretty/fairest thing will be a plot point that evolves later – and connect the time line between Snow running into the woods and the apple…
All good points, and I see twists available to all. My thinking now leads me to think that Snow’s Father talks about how she see’s her Mother in her, and she was the fairest in all the land. So because of this reminder, ergo prettier than the Queen, she will never know love. Her Father can only think of Snow’s Mother every time he see’s her, how can he love Regina? It’s a stretch I admit, but I think it is a possibility too.
The apple should come into play for several reasons: We see apples around Ragina almost all the time. On her desk, in her hand, on her tree. The classic story revoves around Snow’s “death” from biting a poisonus apple. Also in episode 9 True North the EQ tells Hansel and Gretal that “This is not just an apple, it is a weapon.”
Eat this poisonus apple or have your heart cut out while you are alive! Just kidding!
We now know that SW is going to face the EQ with the Seven Dwarfs “Let’s show her what Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs can really do.” (Grumpy)
