My teacher showed this mini-series in Creative Writing, and now I’m seeing a lot of different ideas in movies coming out that were taken from the series, or at least were first seen in this series (which came out maybe 20 years ago). Has anyone else seen this?

yes. 10th Kingdom came out as a miniseries in 2000.

There is also a “Jack and the Beanstalk:the Real Story” (2001) that is quite good IMO. Also a previously done “Snow White:The Fairest of Them All” (2002) and the “Snow Queen” (2002) as well as “Ella Enchanted” (2004).

I think these all kind of followed with the success of the 10th Kingdom, and a small renewed interest in FairyTales.

My family and I enjoy “The 10th Kingdom” very much. Great miniseries to watch on a day when you call out sick and just want to lie on the sofa and watch TV! LOL

I never liked Wolf. This show is a lot better.

It’s been awhile since I saw ‘The Tenth Kingdom’ but I do remember enjoying it.
But then again, my preferences were probably aided by the fact that I’d recently become enamored with Lord of the Rings; which means I didn’t watch the series until around 2001.

If you liked ‘The Tenth Kingdom’ chances are – you’d like the 80s movies that the series tends to like to draw slight inspiration from; in particular I’m thinking of Labyrinth , Willow & The Neverending Story.

I watched the whole series! It aired when I was in college, when I had a dorm room with no television so I’d go catch it on the tv in the study room down the hall. I don’t really remember the story anymore as I haven’t seen it since, but I remember loving it. I love different takes on familiar stories.

Love 10th Kingdom. It’s on my list of movies to watch over the Once hiatus. That and Syfy’s “Alice”. Maybe a Shakespeare movie or two.

I LOVE the 10th kingdom! Highly recommend it for the summer hiatus. Another good one is syfy’s Tin Man starring Zooey Deschanel!

how can anyone not like the tenth kingdom. It was awesome and i had been a big Night Court fan and seeing dan fielding “i know it’s not his real name” was a real treat. Actually except for being a dad his character reminded me a lot of dan fielding. The romance between the daughter and the wolf was very funny also especially when he talked about his “once a month changes” it had me on the floor. Another suggestion i would give is johnny depps peter pan movie i enjoyed that a lot.
