Here is a quote from episode 19 “The Return” where Mr. Gold is talking to Booth after Booth tries to control him with the knife.
Rumple: “That this knife can not harness any magic in this world because there is no magic in this world.”
As we have found out through episode 17 “Hat Trick,” Emma had the power to create a magic hat because she has brought magic into this world because of being unaffected by the curse. Since her arrival, time has begun and Regina is loosing her control (much to Mr. Gold’s benefit).
So the question is, WILL WE SEE EMMA TAKE POSSESSION OF THE KNIFE AND CONTROL THE DARK ONE aka MR. GOLD IN STORYBROOKE BEFORE THE END OF THE SEASON!!!
I think as we had a listener suggest, Mr. Gold may take Henry in the custody battle soon to come. However, driven by the love of her child, Emma will go to great lengths to control Mr. Gold to get her son back.
Think about it, Emma did tell Regina at the end of this episode, “I am about to start playing an entirely different game” 😀
[adrotate group="5"]That’s EXACTLY what I think will end up happening. Not this seaason, but season 2 is definitely a possibility. I’ve actually read theories that said Mr. Gold wants Emma to become the new Dark One. However, those theories were created before we found out about Mr. Gold’s mission to find Baelfire and the lack of magic in Storybrooke.
I could definitely see Emma trying to control the Dark One. The only thing that worries me about it is that Emma could end up being fooled like Rumpel was. I don’t think Emma would ever kill Mr. Gold, but I do think that he could end up manipulating her into thinking that she has the power while the real power secrets still lies with him. SCARY!!! 😯
Another interesting aspect of this the cusody battle is the father. It all depends on how it turns out. If Mr. Gold gets custody of Henry due to DNA evidence (Baelfire theory ) then Emma won’t be able use the law on her side. The law will clearly side with Mr. Gold. So, she may end up resorting to drastic means.

If anyone can make the knife work it’s Emma but with the custody thing I’d much rather see her win it without Gold. I don’t know as the symbol for good it seems wrong for her to win by harassing dark magic
Yes @steliokontos1 I hope Emma wins Henry without magic as well! And @MidnightDreary I agree! Really leaning towards Baelfire being Henry’s father. A really cool thing is that means having Emma and Baelfire as Henry’s parents give Henry the possible ability to become someone very powerful with magic, MAYBE HAVING HENRY BE THE ONE TO RELEASE RUMPLE FROM THE DARK ONE’S POWER? so many possibilities though it could be anyone at this point

GAAAAHHH!!!!! That’s exactly what I was thinking! Don’t ask me why, but I have a feeling when Baelfire landed in our world, he managed to find a way to create magic, and his vessel for creating that magic was Emma. I think Baelfire is probably a really powerful sorcerer, and that gene may have been passed down to Henry. It would explain why Henry was able to see through the curse’s smoke and mirrors. Maybe he has some unknown psychic ability to see through curses or lies. Kind of like Emma (sort of).
This is a good idea Dan. I like that idea that Emma may try to control Rumpel at some point in the series. I just have no idea where they are going to go with all the characters because if they all start remembering or even Emma believes i don’t think that Emma would want to continue working with the Dark One if she finds out who Rumpel is. And if Snow and Charming remember they wouldn’t want Emma working with Rumpel either. We will see.
I could totally see Emma taking control of the dark one at some point in the series, great idea DanFlynnDesign…this idea made me remember some parallel conversations with: gold-emma and regina-rumple
In “The Thing You Loved Most” Rumple asked Regina: “How far are you willing to go” and Regina said “as far as it takes”…
In “Heart of Darkness” Gold asked Emma “Are you willing to go as far as it takes?”…and she said “farther”…
(This hints that Emma is caple or EVENTUALLY will be capable of anything to save Henry and MM, and break the curse…in the future she MIGHT be able to play with “fire” or “evil” if that is what it takes to win.. I think Emma is a person who is capable of good and evil…and I hope she is careful, because I feel she is slowly corrupting herself, she is seeking Gold’s help who she claims to not trust, (contradiction I think she does trust him and I think Gold’s core is good but got corrupted by power, and he will be a “Snape” figure who will sacrifice in the end for good!! 😀 ) and is trusting him with the most important thing in her life as of now: Henry’s custody, also Emma is “starting to play a whole different game” I hope she stays smart and carefully plays her game to win but not compromising herself) 😯 😥

I don’t think Emma can control him, for he has no magic in this world. Even if Emma had magic I believe that it will take both side (Emma and Mr. Gold/ Rumpelstiltskin), to summon the Dark One. As for the theory of him wanting her to be the knew Dark One I don’t really thinks so. I mean, why would you tarnish the savior with that curse? It’ll just turn her evil and something like this could happen all over again. I believe that he wants Emma to help him get rid of the curse. We all know that he slightly resents it because it destroyed his bond with his son and with Belle. But in the end I believe you can’t have “yin” without “yan” so it will be highly improbable.
