THE MORE I THINK OF THIS THE MORE I THINK I AM ON TO SOMETHING….
Bael came through at age 14, illiterate from the middle ages… he probably got some education in someway but not through regular schooling. Someone took him in and taught him things.Bael took up the honorable profession of being a fire fighter …. Isn’t that what Emma said Henry’s father was. Maybe he was estranged from his wife and family and that is why he succumbed to her charms. BAEL; and his wife reconciled that is why Emma left. Emma being pg got tangled in trouble but never let the father of her child know about the baby. Thus Henry came up for adoption.
Maybe kindred spirits called to GOLD and that was why he got Henry as a baby for REGINA, not realizing Henry is his grandson. He got Henry giving him to Regina not realizing he was letting the Evil Queen raise his precious grandson.
I think the curse gets broken / bent and Gold goes to find his son Bael… At some point they then find out that Henry is actually his grandson.
So we now have conflict between Gold … his son BAEL … Regina… SNOW AND PC and Emma all over HENRY. We will have multiple conflicts here… and someday when Henry is older …. he will have his say on what happens to him.
WHO sides with who?
We will have other characters and other stories being portrayed and intermingling but this will be the main story thread, always circling back to this main conflict. With the curse broken they now can travel to and through the other doors seen in the big room via the hats.
THIS IS MY THEORY AND I AM STICKING TO IT.

This is still peculating in my brain ….. evolving so we will just see… and having posted this.. the writers will now come up with a different story along a whole new concept…. My brilliance have ruined their long range plans.

So, your theory on what happened betwen them makes me really happy. 😀 I made a prediction a few weeks ago stating that Mr. Gold is going to get custody of Henry. MARK. MY. WORDS.
I still hope August is Henry’s father. Amazing because it means he found Emma again and heartbreaking for obvious reasons.
August cannot be Henry’s father. Emma clearly remembers Henry’s father, and she’s clearly not a fan of his, so it cannot be August.
No, look back at the episode concerning Henry’s father. Emma lied to Henry about his father being a fireman and hero and tells Mary Margaret so.
Love your theory, Nonnie. 😀 I also think Baelfire is Henry’s father. Ever since Rumpel’s statement about travelling through “time and space” came into play, the theory has been making more and more sense to me. And the whole Baelfire=Firefighter connection is a really cool hint too. And on top of that, the writers have already said that we may have already met Henry’s father. When the writers said that, Desperate Souls had already aired. As a matter of fact, it was right after Desperate Souls had aired. So, that may also be a clue.
I like the idea of Baelfire being Henry’s dad, but I don’t like the idea of someone as brave and self-sacrificing as Bae growing up to be a deadbeat.
But Bae is not a deadbeat if he has no idea that Henry exists. Actually whomever the father is is not a deadbeat because Emma never told them.
