Doesn’t it seem odd that the curse was broken when true love’s kiss was shared between two non-Storybrooke people? Emma was FTL-born, so she gets that credit, but Henry was modern-day born, and in Phoenix!
Then again, maybe Henry’s father was also FTL-born (Baelfire?).
Also consider that when Emma kissed Graham just before his death (“The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter”), it seemed like the kiss of true love. But maybe it didn’t break the whole curse because she didn’t believe in the curse at that time.

With Graham, the curse was weakening, and even though Emma didn’t believe, just being the key to breaking the curse made her kiss far more potent – enough to dispel the curse from Graham.
With Henry, the true love kiss was drastically more powerful because it was a true love kiss of mother to her child with both of them knowing about the curse combined with Emma being a true love incarnate and the key to breaking the curse in a more global.

I think that the true love’s kiss between Emma and Henry just brought light to the darkness so everyone got their memories back. We know they are still stuck in the real world which means to me that the big curse, the dark curse, was not actually broken.

Yes, I sort of touched upon this in another thread, but I’m not really sure what exactly the Curse did or how to actually break it completely. I’m thinking that in order to keep everyone in Storybrooke instead of having them be able to leave, which is what I would do if I lived there and there was going to be a war between Rumplestiltskin, the Evil Queen, and the Charmings, that part of the Curse is still going to be active.
Of course, Rumple was packing like he would be able to leave before the Curse was broken, but I’m still guessing they’ll all be stuck still because it’s just too unwieldy and expensive for the main characters not to be in Storybrooke.
There must be another part of breaking the Curse though which is why they didn’t all return to the Enchanted Forest. I don’t know if it has to do with true love or not or if maybe it has to do with finding Bae first before everyone can go back since I think the potion being dropped into the well was to be able to find him.

I think that they need to find a way to try and make some sort of peace feel real otherwise the show won’t work. At least right now. I mean they are enemies and in that way at war, but i think they need to find some way for the characters to be able to walk around and do normal things.

I agree. If the show desolves into all out war, it would be jumping the shark. They should have the final battle begin towards the end of season 3.
I’m also not clear on whether or not the Dark Curse was truly broken. I kind of assumed that it was, but now looking back, I’m not so sure. There are two main components to the curse. The memory loss and the realm jumping. All that has been broken is the part of the curse that took away everyone’s memory. But the second part (and the most important part) is the realm jumping. They’re still in our world. They haven’t jumped realms yet. But that’s probably how Rumpel wanted it. I don’t think they’re going anywhere until Rumpel finds Bae. So, this may take a few seasons. 😯

I think that the true loves kiss brought “light to the darkness” like Mary said, but it did not actually break the curse and was not the thing that broke the curse. The realm jumping has still not been undone. And the fairy is still a human and Jiminy still a man and so on and so forth. At least before the purple smoke monster of doom rolled over the town. Though i do think that they are still going to keep everyone human in Storybrooke except possibly August. They may have to try and fix him.
And like you said it seems to me that descending into all out war in the streets would be too much too fast when they still can do other things with the show. And it would take away from the emotional impact if the characters are just always in a war setting though i do think that in a way they are in a life or death situation whether they know it or not, but that is life.

The reason that Emma’s true love kiss broke the curse, at least partially, is because her parents’ hairs were used to create the true love potion, a drop of which was put on the parchment of paper the curse was written on. That is why she is the only one who could break the curse. That was how Rumpelstitskin designed the curse. He said as much to her in the finale when she came into his shop as a true believer. Emma was the key to breaking the curse, and Henry was the cause of her belief. The combination of the two was bound to have a powerful effect.

Maybe the curse did break completely, meaning that the curse was not responsible for all of the magical changes that happened 28 years ago. I’ve been thinking that the Blue Fairy’s words to Rumpel — “Only you would think of a curse” — might be better interpreted as “Only you would think of this as a curse”.
