Hey, guys!
I was wondering, what do you think about Rumple?
Good? Bad? Do you like him? Do you hate him? Are you disgusted by hime?
I’ve seen random comments about this throughout the forums, but now we can have just one place to put down our thoughts aout him 😀[adrotate group="5"]June 3, 2012 at 2:17 am #148231butterscotchParticipantI love him. He is my favourite character from the show. Not sure he falls under the good ot the bad cathegory he is more a grey area. I mean he is no saint but I always thought Regina is way more evil than him.

Keeper of Rumplestiltskin's and Neal's spears and war paint and crystal ball.

I agree.
Rumpel is my favorite too. My boyfriend thinks he wants to take over the world but I don’t believe that yet. So no, I don’t think he’s evil.

I have to laugh at myself when I think about Rumple because I have these long winded marathon theories about his back story and what is sure to be his dramatic redemption. Then I remind myself that he is a fictional character with NO backstory except that which the writers have already created and the details of his future are, for the most part, non-existant.
In general, I love Rumple because I think RC does the most amazing job bringing the character to life. Seriously, I have often thought about what that show would be like with another actor playing Rumple. RC says they pretty much let him do whatever he wants with Rumple which means the character would be completely different if he were played by someone else. I can’t even comprehend the show without Rumple/Gold played the way he plays them. No “Dearies”, no bizarre little giggles and odd little sounds at the strangest times, no RC flavored vocal inflections when delivering Rumple-centric humor, I’m guessing we wouldn’t have anywhere near the closet full of screen shots of facial expressions that just make the scene . . . It’s basically not even the same show!
That’s how I feel about Rumple. 😉

Yeah, I got to be straight wit you – Rumplestiltskin was the only reason I loved the show for awhile. Once they started getting more characters involved, and there was less Snow/Charming focus I thought it was better. Episode 15ish?
Also, I don’t usually crush on celebrities, but Ive been watching every Robert Carlyle work I can get my hands on – and I think his name might actually be “and Robert Carlyle” so they always credit him last to avoid questions (not reli). =P (this is related to the quote because I used to say RC,now I want to say ARC)

Yes, while I’ve loved episodes that haven’t been Rumple-centric, I don’t know if I would be as hooked if he weren’t involved in some of the episodes I haven’t liked like “The Price of Gold” or “Dreamy”.
Of course, he doesn’t make up for all the inconsistencies that the show unfortunately has, but Robert Carlyle is joy to watch in the world for me. It’s not just Robert Carlyle alone though that I love watching, but I love how when he’s paired in a scene with another actor, the other actor usually does his/her best work too.

No grand, commedia dell’atre gestures, no elegant bows, no distainful sword slaps, no finger pointing “all magic comes with a price” equations. A dull Rumple indeed. James may be the one called Charming, but he ‘s not the only one deserving of the name.
No sword slaps! It’s unthinkable.
