Now about ONCE, the elevator and the library does not take them to the fairytale land. Emma just went into the caves under the town. Maleficent was brought to this world by Regina. Regina specifically says that. Maleficent was just trapped as a dragon in the caves. It was the same cave we saw in Ep 5 with Snow’s coffin in it, but it is in the real world, just under Storybrooke.

Also Emma acted a lot more like the prince from Sleeping Beauty then she did like the girl. Emma killed the dragon and woke the sleeper which are both things the prince does in sleeping beauty and not the girl. And Maleficent already mentioned the real sleeping beauty in Ep 2 so that story already happened before Emma was born, so Emma cannot be sleeping beauty.

I found this comment on another board and thought it was interesting I brought it here since the other board had not had any posts since May. I had not consider that Emma was more prince like and following story line of the prince. I thought it was interesting.

Someone also mention Madam Mimm could change into dragon. The prince (Aurthor) there also killed her… similar story line.

That’s true; usually the savior in fairy tales is the prince. The OUaT creators have flipped that on its head by making the Princess the savior. Good point, Nonnie.

I’m on the side that Emma is not a fairy tale character herself. The premise of Once Upon a Time is that the fairy tale characters we knew (or think we knew) all once existed. By extension, this means that every fairy tale we know happened before Emma.

I meant that in this new story Emma is acting more like the prince (in the fairy tales we know) usually acts. Emma is technically a princess, by virtue of who her parents are. I wasn’t saying Emma is anything in an old fairy tale. Her actions in the season finale were pretty fairy tale prince-like: slaying a dragon and kissing someone back to life.

Yes, she certainly is. Emma’s the new story, modern. If she acted like the princesses in the stories, the show would’ve missed the nerve of time (uh oh, I think this is one of those expressions that just don’t exist in English, but I hope you get the picture  ).
This reminded me of how Emma acted exactly like Henry said: “I know the hero never believes at first, if they did it wouldn’t be a very good story.” So very true.

I think this is one of the appeals and aims of the show in that the girls aren’t just damsels in distress but fighters in their own right.

I suppose she could end up being The Swan Princess someday considering her last name… Although that’s not her real last name now that I think about it.

    I agree.
