Didn’t see this posted anywhere yet, but saw it when Meghan RT it earlier today.
http://tvline.com/2012/09/26/once-upon-a-time-season-2-premiere-scoop-observations/* The premiere starts off in perhaps one of the last locations you would expect, and you’d be hard-pressed to guess which person is in those scenes.
* There’s this.
* “Grandpa?” Yeah, you are so gonna kvell.
* Belle cleans up really, really, really, really well.
* Who are you, Whale? That is an excellent question. In fact… it’s a question asked by one of the main characters.
* Speaking of Dr. Whale: Apparently David never got looped in on the brief little somethin’-somethin’ that Mary Margaret had going with the frisky physician. (We were on a break!) That sets the table for a rather hilarious passing moment.
* Reer! Princess Aurora is more than a little jealous of Mulan’s “loyalty” to Prince Phillip. Also: Aurora and Phillip really like to kiss. Get thee a room!
* You know how the producers always share their zeal for offering a new spin on familiar fairytale characters? In the spirit of that, be patient with the Aurora/Phillip/Mulan storyline….
* There’s a recurring… thing… throughout the episode, that I most likely can’t talk about. But I’ll say this: The special FX involved are extremely cool.
* Why wouldn’t Emma be thrilled to finally find her parents? Stay tuned, because she will tell you exactly why — and I’ll be damned if she doesn’t makes a compelling argument.
* David at one point says, “I know it’s old-fashioned… but so am I.” Ha!
* Chip!
* ABC literally has warned reporters that if we reveal the ending, “Regina will find you and curse you.” So, as much as I fancy an in-person visit from Lana Parrilla — and even though the first OMG! moment takes place a few scenes before what is technically the ending (which itself an OMG! moment) — I must heed their wishes. But wow.
“Grandpa,” is gonna be SUCH a sweet moment!
Interesting that a main character will ask Dr Whale who he is. Maybe he wasn’t widely known in FTL. Hmmmm.
And the line from Charming about being old fashioned: LOVE!!

I also love that “grandpa” line; that Henry is such a little Charmer-in-the-making. Also, perhaps the main character to ask about Dr. Whale will be Emma, since she’s not familiar at all with these fairy-tale counterparts.
Am I the only one who doesn’t understand the reference to Lou Reed’s Charley’s Girl – like at all?

With you totally! …….. No Idea!
September 27, 2012 at 12:24 pm #154576hjbauParticipantOkay, i don’t like the idea of Henry calling Charming, grandpa. Weird. I hope everyone laughs at least or Emma looks at him like he has grown two heads.
And why in the world would they keep using their Storybrooke names. I can think of no reason where that would make sense.

Yes, I didn’t get that either. I guess it’s either a hint that the episode opens at Coney Island or ends there since that song is from Lou Reed’s Coney Island Baby album. It could be where Bae is in our world whenever the events happen in “Broken”.
The Cyclone is probably Coney Island’s most famous ride, so if it doesn’t refer to where Bae is, perhaps it’s a reference to a cyclone happening.
Or the other theory I have is that Bae’s and Emma’s relationship was like the one in Charley’s Girl, but it’s too early for a flashback even if Michael Raymond-James is Bae.
And why in the world would they keep using their Storybrooke names. I can think of no reason where that would make sense.
It doesn’t make sense to me either except that they think the audience is stupid, which yeah unfortunately, there might be viewers out there who would be confused as to why Leroy is going by Grumpy in Storybrooke now.
I know I read people defending the idea by saying that they’ve lived those lives for 28 years, so they’ve gotten used to those names. However, unless I was an ally of Regina’s, there’s no way I’d still use the name that came from the Curse that she enacted.
September 27, 2012 at 1:48 pm #154578marilouParticipantThey keep using the Storybrook names because 28 years is a long time. Some characters have spent more time in SB than they have spent in FTL. (i think most of this business will be address in the episode “We are Both”
the main thing that comes to mind is Grace. Jefferson was her father in FTL but there is, what appears to be, a lovely family that took care of her for 28 years. That counts for something. I’m sure she will be happy to see Jefferson but she spent almost 3 times as much time with her Storybrook family than with Jefferson.
Just because the curse is broken does not mean those 28 years did not happen.
… Side note: the plot thickens! no one knows who Dr. Whales is… maybe he is not from FTL, maybe he is from a different realm.
September 27, 2012 at 3:22 pm #154585antbeeParticipantDarn it! I was doing so good the last few days not getting too excited about the show and not looking at any new promos since I figured that Sunday is almost here anyways, but I keep reading all these hints from people who got to see the show early which is making me even crazier than I was during the summer waiting for the show.
I just saw these on Tumblr, from WetPaint. http://www.wetpaint.com/once-upon-a-time/articles/10-hints-about-the-once-upon-a-time-season-2-premiere
The other 7, I already knew about, but I thought these were interesting,
Quote:8. Someone learns that keeping strictly to the word of a promise isn’t always enough.9. Emma (Jennifer Morrison) will do anything for Henry (Jared Gilmore), and she proves it in a surprising way.
10. Choice quote: “The one thing no one can escape: Destiny.”
Does #8 have to do with Rumple and Bae? Or Rumple and Regina? I can’t remember any other big deals right now since the Emma-Rumple favor doesn’t play out until later. Ugh.
I bet #9 is a parallel to Rumple and Bae except Emma goes through the vortex for Henry.
I guess #10 is referring to Emma, but it could also possibly be mean other people?!?! I want this episode so badly right now. Ack! Sunday suddenly seems so far away.
September 27, 2012 at 3:35 pm #154590antbeeParticipantUgh, even more spoilers, from here, http://www.tvfanatic.com/2012/09/once-upon-a-time-season-premiere-what-to-expect/#ixzz27gDiKj9F
The episode opens in a new location, with a new character receiving a mysterious message.
We then meet three MORE new characters before we’re reunited with any Season 1 favorites.
Someone comes right out and asks Dr. Whale who he is.
A fresh fairy tale “character” makes “his” presence strongly felt in Storybrooke. Note the quotation marks.
Mr. Gold makes a promise to Belle.
Emma isn’t exactly in the mood to bond with her young parents.
Henry issues a threat to Regina.
Emma’s touch proves to be magical.
Emma and Mary Margaret conclude the episode… together. That’s all we can say about it at the moment. Most of it we already knew, but there’s some new information there.
So it does open like I suspected from the recent spoilers with Bae in a new location perhaps Coney Island based on the other spoiler out there. I wonder what kind of mysterious message he receives.
I wonder who the new male fairy tale character is. I don’t think it’s Prince Phillip because I think he’s part of the second spoiler about meeting 3 new characters. I can’t remember if Captain Hook is supposed to be in episode 1, I don’t think so, but perhaps I guess.
Finally, you go Henry! I can just imagine what the evil Regals will say after they see that scene, but I’m glad that he’s not softening towards her.
September 27, 2012 at 5:09 pm #154596antbeeParticipantMmm, so it’s a Dementor that makes its presence felt. Meh. I like the idea of Rumple having the Medallion, but it looks so much out of Harry Potter from the picture that I don’t really like the idea of a soul sucking creature. Plus, other than Harry Potter, I don’t really remember soul sucking creatures being a large part of fairy tales. On the other hand, horcruxes sort of are because a lot of fairy tale villains hide their soul in a place outside their bodies, and the hero with the maiden’s help finds the villain’s soul and crushes it to be able to completely destroy the villain. So I wouldn’t mind that being a part of OUaT and not Dementors. 😕
September 27, 2012 at 6:03 pm #154597marilouParticipantwas it Jane Espenson who said in the Skin Deep commentary that the hat in rumple’s collection could be either from the sorcerer’s apprentice or harry potter? They wanted the interpretation of said hat to be left to the viewer.
