Being a Bae/Emma fan I think that Bae is still the father, and that this new character that was in the city is him. We were all wondering how they could elongate this without spoiling his identity quickly, well now we have a way. Emma is in the enchanted forest (or some part of it) and no one else knows about whom Henry’s father is. So now they could have Bae (If he’s the father) enter the scene and not reveal his identity for a while.
I also think that the person who sent Bae a message was August. There’s a strong possibility that the note could’ve been sent before the curse was broken, because august knew everything about the curse. We also don’t know how long the cloud was over the town, therefore making time irrelevant.
What do you guys think?

Wow. I hadn’t taken in to account how long it takes for a postcard to travel through the mail… then again we don’t really know at what point this scene was taking place, so that kind of makes it not matter anymore. I would be inclined to believe it was August, if he hadn’t turned in to wood. No, I think it was someone else, and I think we’re all going to be surprised when we find out who.
As for him being Bae… well, I don’t think so. Bae wouldn’t have known about Storybrooke, and he wouldn’t have known about the curse.

Also, that room cluttered with a lot of old stuff like a rotary phone and a record player, reminded me a bit of Mr. Gold’s shop. It also stands to reason that if bae is Henry’s father, he must have had some knowledge of and/or connection to Storybrooke (possibly via August?) since otherwise it would be too much of a coincidence for him to just happen to meet Emma ten years ago.

But there are supposed to be some major hints to his identity in his apartment and I saw nothing that screamed “Bae”. The “cleaners and hatters” sign could indicate a Jefferson/Wonderland connection. A tiny silver woman (fairy) could indicate Tinkerbell. I also saw a picture of a red hand (glove) some monocles hanging by the door (and something else?), loads of records, microphones and equipment, most dating around and before 1960s, a dream catcher, old telephone, notebooks. I think there might be a few red herrings in there, but they said there was supposed to be one thing in particular that could be easily connected with his character. They also said we should know who he is about 9 episodes in so perhaps we’ll just have to wait 😉

I think so too. The opening was my favorite part of the whole episode. Of course, I liked most of the episode, except for one or two parts, but out of the four new characters, Mysterious Man was by far by favorite. Not that I didn’t enjoy the Aurora, Prince Phillip, and Mulan scenes, but in just his brief scene even without any dialogue, I though Michael Raymond-James completely blew the other new actors out of the way.
He really nailed adult!Bae for me by being this sad, little boy still that’s just trying to survive in this crazy world.
I think they’ll have him come to Storybrooke probably seeking who sent him the postcard. I think it’s August; although, I’m not sure if he would be able to if he’s still in his wooden form, which I think he’s still in. If it wasn’t August, then it had to be the Blue Fairy, but it seems like Bae and August have to know each other because August had too many intimate details about how to trick Rumple that I don’t think the Blue Fairy could have filled him in on.

Yes, if Bae is Henry’s father, then grandfather, father, and son all seem to be hoarders of old junk. Here’s a link to screencaps of his apartment for those that want a better look, http://tvline.com/2012/09/30/once-upon-a-time-season-2-who-is-nyc-mystery-man/
Also, Bae has his watches. Henry has his clocks. They both carry backpacks with them. Last year, the season opened with meeting Emma, one of Henry’s biological parents, outside of Storybrooke, so this year’s opening could be a parallel to last year’s season opening.
I’m sure there’s more, but my brain is about to fall asleep now.
Finally, there was this little gem from this most recent TV Guide[/] interview, http://storybrookemirror.tumblr.com/post/32642612567/tvguide-post-premiere-interview-ftl-land-henrys
ABC sent out sent out fun cast photos on Friday, but why is Henry holding a bow and arrow?
Kitsis: There is an Easter egg in there, but it’s going to take a while for you to realize it. Then, when you go back, it may not be the bow and arrow that gave it away.Hahaha, it’s because his clothes give it away. Yay SwanFire!!!

October 1, 2012 at 6:06 am #154829ashez2ashesParticipantI had to dvd-r the episode since I didn’t get home in time, and I really thought I had accidently recorded the wrong episode for the first few minutes!

One doesn’t necessarily need magic to send a message via a carrier pigeon. In FTL, Prince Charming used one to send a message to Snow White, and neither of them had/has magic. So, it could be anyone in SB, with or without magic. My first guess is August, followed by the Blue Fairy, then Rumpel, Jefferson, or even someone surprising like Dr. Whale.
I agree that the sign saying “Hatters or Cleaners” could be a clear tie to Jefferson the Mad Hatter.

I also noticed the shoes, and thought they might have some significance. For instance, they could be a pair or running shoes, and Baelfire has been on the run ever since coming to our world.
I think the silver figurine on the desk was simply a bowling trophy though, and not a fairy.
Screen Shot 2012-10-01 at 11.38.01 AM.png[/attachment:2bpueh90]I thought the red hand with the fish and a miniature clock in it might have significance, but I’m still trying to figure that one out. Could be a saying like “fish in hand.” Or it could be a red herring. 🙂
Screen Shot 2012-10-01 at 11.33.38 AM.png[/attachment:2bpueh90]Also, I like the parallel between this stranger having clocks and Henry having clocks. Makes me think they’re father and son. 🙂 I didn’t see any obvious ties to Baelfire, except for the running shoes idea and Bae being on the run in a far-off land.

Running shoes on the wall next to desk?
