So here we are in season 2 and back to the question we all began surmising on when Emma met the Mad Hatter — does Emma have magic? What was the deal with her touching Regina and the hat working? was it the combination of the two of them together? Did Emma infuse Regina with new magic? Did Emma’s touch restore Regina’s magic? Ready to hear some thoughts… π

Will her touching everyone give them the magic that they had (fairies, rumple, even August)? Now that shes trapped in another realm and Regina being the only one with her power things could get ugly. AND does this mean Emma herself had magical powers? If so where did she get them and what can she do? I’m hoping she’s gonna get to find out in fairytale land and come back to Storybrooke to whoop Evil Queen butt!
October 2, 2012 at 3:09 am #155020eastofthesunParticipantI think maybe Emma’s magic touch is a clue to her final fairytale land persona, I know some people might disagree but i believe she will have a fairytale alter ego….maybe she is a wizard, good witch of some kind, and her powers are due to her grandparents….we only know CharmingΒ΄s mom, and snows father right? those 2 seem non-magical….but MAYBE the other 2 grandparents hold the key… I hope we get some answers this season about emma’s magic!! π
another crazy thought: what if the curse gave Emma the powers…like a key to open a door, she was the key to breaking the curse, so powers where given to her so she could do it…the moment the curse was enacted by the evil queen…that was the moment she received magic…. π― very harry potteresque voldemort/harry i know!! but i think it would be great!!

After all, she is the product of true love, and as we are continually reminded, true love is the most powerful magic of all. It’s why Emma is the savior, and it’s why she’s going to become, I think, even more powerful than Rumple and Regina combined.

I’m dead focused on that right now, that and what Gold said about Emma owing him “one last favor”. I did notice that the hat began spinning while Regina had contact with it AND Emma touching her. I also noticed that before this scene, Regina didn’t seem to have any powers whatsoever. The towns people walking up to Regina’s door and Regina thinking she had power over them only to find out that she didn’t. Gold visiting Regina being locked up and telling her that magic was different in SB. Afterwards, Gold summons the wraith with his dagger and the seal that the wraith carried back in FTL (and now the wraith is wearing all of a sudden? still slightly confusing to me…), the same seal that Gold cursed/branded Regina with while he visited her in jail. I feel like I’ve got most if not all the pieces but no idea how they fit. Also, does it seem odd that the Blue Fairy is about the only other character that could use/have magic and yet not be able to use it?October 2, 2012 at 3:52 am #155032Killian JonesParticipantAnybody think Mr. Gold’s favor from Emma will be for her to give Rumple back his powers?
October 2, 2012 at 4:49 am #155047rcaret7zParticipantA lot of speculation towards that way of thinking… After all, “ALL magic comes at a price!” π
πOctober 2, 2012 at 5:01 am #155056faux paxParticipantIs it all magic that comes with a price, or is it just the kind of magic Rumple and Regina do? I mean the fairies worked magic for centuries but they don’t seem to have paid some great price for that? Could it be that All dark magic (the kind done for personal gain/revenge) has a price, but if it’s done in good faith for others, it is a bit more “free?”
October 2, 2012 at 5:08 am #155060rcaret7zParticipantI like the way you put that, “free”. If only that were the case… I honestly think that ALL magic comes at (or with) a price! Think back to the beginning of all of this, where all the characters of FTL were going to “protect” Emma and how that ended. While they protected her by sending her to our world, she also grew up being “alone”. Kind of a bad hand to be dealt but if that were to really happen, I could only see the fact that she IS such a strong person! π
Hope this helps!October 2, 2012 at 5:16 am #155065faux paxParticipantParhaps that would also explain why BF was so picky about who she helped (something I wish the show would address). I mean Bae heard about her from his Ex-child-soldier friend. If the magic was free, you’d think BF would have helped all the kids, but I guess she thought that getting the dark one out of FTL was worth whatever it cost her to send Bae away.
