Did anyone notice Regina’s necklace when she was talking to Rumple and he provided the mirror that Regina finally pushed her mother thru? It was a pendant with a tree. It looked to me to be the same shape tree as in all the other shown – Nolan’s vase, Sherrif’s badge, Sheriff’s car, the tree by the well.

So trees were important to her even then. Maybe someday we’ll get the story of the apple tree (the one in her yard in SB).

It looked to me like Young Regina was wearing a Tree of Life symbol necklace. I thought the contrast was interesting between that and her poisonous apples when she became the Evil Queen.
