In this week’s Entertainment Weekly, we take Once Upon a Time showrunners Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz to Disneyland as we get the scoop on the ABC hit’s second season and beyond. While checking out Walt’s traditional versions of Once‘s iconic characters like Snow White and Sleeping Beauty, the writer-producers reveal how their gleefully revisionist fairy tale series will become the ultimate TV mashup of wildly different people and locations from various fictional sources — not unlike the park itself. Fairy tales were just the beginning.

Plus, producers will eventually take Once characters to the Land of Oz and introduce their version of the Little Mermaid. And after bringing in Mulan and Lancelot this year, producers are not ruling out figures from other genre-bursting non-fairy tale sources (like, say, Moby Dick, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, and Tron).

😮 😮 ❗ 😯 😯 OMG! As soon as I read that they are actually going to do The Little Mermaid this season, 😮 😮 I have such high hopes for Ariel, my boyfriend does too since we both grew up loving the same Disney movie.

    The cover is gorgeous too!

This Sunday that means the eagerly anticipated introduction of a sexy young Captain Hook. But the following week expect Once to journey to a new world unlike any we’ve seen before on the show.

😮 Wow – so I think this confirms we get to see Dr. Frankenstein in 2×5! Also, I’m sooooo excited for the Little Mermaid! Plus we get to see literary figures like Moby Dick and Tom Sawyer, plus Tron! Too much!

That’s what it sounds like to me! Had to wonder if the timing of the release of this interview was done to prep viewers for the arrival of one of these, “genre-bursting non-fairy tale sources.” They likely knew that including the likes of Dr Frankenstein would seem like it came way outta left field for lots of viewers, so now they can officially say, “don’t say we didn’t warn you.”

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out- so far we’ve had a super high standard as far as episode content & pure awesomeness goes 😉 – so I guess these coming eps will either continue that trend or flop badly 😐 I REALLY hope its the former!

On another note- I cant wait to see the little mermaid story line this season!!! 😀 I didn’t think we’d get that as they only just announce barley 2weeks ago, that we wouldn’t see the little mermaid or Oz this season, as there was just to much other stuff going on for all the characters, including introducing & telling the stories of so many new characters this season?!?! 😕

Well that’s encouraging news and looking more and more that he will be Dr. Frankie. Here is something interesting that runs along with our theory that he is there to revive Daniel. In the promo pics, where we see Reggie, Jefferson & Dr. Whale going down the stairs, Kiwi posted that those stairs look an awful lot like Reggie’s heart chamber. She thinks that it was originally Cora’s chambers and they were headed down to recover Daniel’s heart.

Yeah, GoldenKey, maybe all that research just might have pointed us in the right direction after all. And, yeah, Kiwi’s pic and theory was really interesting -it looks like the exact same stairwell. Also, after listening to the Podcast lastnight, Daniel was talking about the ‘vault’….he said there was an archway, but it looked sealed off…maybe ‘Daniel’ is behind that sealed off doorway….????

Though trapped in FTL, Snow eventually figures out a way to communicate with Charming and “that’s going to change everything.”

    Hmmmm.

Also, that pic with their reflections is awesome!
