I’m sorry if this has been covered before. I tried doing a search using “Henry finding Emma”, and the first thing I saw were spoilers for Mystery Man, so I stopped reading.

Do we know how Henry found Emma before/at the start of last season?

I’m starting to have a suspicion – not really a theory, and definitely not based on what we saw on screen except for Henry being resourceful – that Henry might know, or have tracked down, his father, using the same method he used to track down Emma.

Just curious what everyone else thinks.

He seemed to buy the story that his father was dead in True North, so I don’t think he has or will track down a father. Besides, Henry found Emma through a website ‘Whose your momma.org’ or something – that probably traced her from birth records. Since Henry’s dad (according to Emma) didn’t know about a kid, and I’m guessing Emma didn’t use his name on any of the paper work – there’s probably no way for Henry to track down his dad – but he probably wouldn’t anyway since Henry’s seems to believe his dad was a fireman who died saving a family.

I don’t think Henry knows anything about his father since he asked Emma about him in “True North” and seemed to accept the (false) story she told him. As for tracking down Emma in the pilot, it certainly seems reasonable that a bright kid like Henry, armed with Mary Margaret’s credit card, could locate Emma through the internet. However, like you, I’ve often wondered if he may have been given a little secret help by the person who wrote his book. I suspect when we discover who wrote the book and got it into the hands of Mary Margaret, we may find that person also was working to ensure that Henry would someday find Emma and bring her to Storybrooke. I used to assume that it was Rumple, but the writers have apparently said that he didn’t regain his memory until he met Emma, so now I’m just waiting to see (no spoilers, please!)
