    I looked at screenshots and they are very similar. Rumple totally downplayed that he wanted the orb, but I reckon he did. It had the Dark Curse in it.

    Did he then plant it on Maleficent, who just happened to be Reginas only friend? Very convenient.

    No, I don’t think so. It looks like the orb belonging to Wicked Witch of the West from Wizard of Oz, which connects to the slippers he wanted.

    The dark curse was not originally in the orb, Maleficent put it there to keep it safe when she got it from Regina, who got it from Rumple.

    Hmm, I wonder what he wanted the orb for then?

    And let’s face it, their are very few coincidences with this show LOL.

    The orb may have been traded/planted/given to Maleficent after Rumple got it? Perhaps it’s what gives her her powers, so she made some sort of deal with him to grant them.
