As we saw in tonight/last night’s episode, Jefferson and Rumple have a connection. I’ve had this thought just in my head for the last few weeks, so I guess I better just throw it out there and see what you all think of it.
1. What we know.
– Rumplestiltskin has some sort of ‘vision’ of the future. (Pilot)
– Rumplestiltskin semi-often makes deals for people’s children. (Price of Gold. We Are Both?)
– Regina MAY have been one of those children. (We Are Both)
– Rumple finds the magical potential in people, and trains them as apprentices. (We Are Both, The Doctor)
– Rumple and Jefferson have some sort of relationship that is more than just one-off deals. They work together in some capacity/capacities. (The Doctor)
– Rumple’s magic is “limited” because he is the Dark One. His magic is evil. (Desperate Souls)
– Rumple’s goal ever since Bae went through the bean portal was to get him back. (The Crocodile)
– Lady of the Lake illustrated a number of great comparisons between Rumpel and Jefferson.2. What I believe.
Rumple uses his vision of the future to determine if a woman’s first-born child will have any notable magical aptitude. Based on this, he will make deals with the viable mothers for their first-born children. He does this with Cora/The Miller’s Daughter and Cinderella as we have been shown… Why does he do this? Because his magic is limited. But he believes that if he gets children to begin magic at an early age, they will access magics that he can’t. Like the magic to travel to other worlds – which is what he wants the most, so he can get Bae back.So I think that Jefferson is one of those children, and Rumple successfully bartered for him unlike some of his other attempts. He raised Jefferson on magic, which is how Jefferson was able to work with portals.

Interesting theory. I was also surprised by the relationship between Rumpel and Jefferson. I never would have guessed that Jefferson met Rumpel before Regina did. Someone brought up the idea of Jefferson being Rumpel’s apprentice, kind of like the Sorcerer’s apprentice. That would be a cool twist for Jefferson’s character.

Yes, I really like that theory because it explains why Rumple keeps trying to make deals involving all these babies.
I also loved their broship. Even today, I’m cracking up at my dashboard of the pictures of the two of them that look like they’re fairy tale rappers. Now along with my dream spin-off of Rumple and Belle leaving town trying to find Bae and fixing troubles wherever they go, I want a spin-off where Rumple and Jefferson get transported to some famous rapper’s house, and he decides to make them his new proteges.

Yes, I never would have guessed that Jefferson met Regina through Rumple. I just figured they happened to be childhood friends or something.

But it was really all a scheme to get her to see redNow instead of a sitcom where Rumple and Jefferson are rappers, I want where Rumple and Jefferson go out to Beverly Hills to live with Bae and his family, so that his dad will stay out of trouble. The only problem is Bae hates Jefferson especially when Jefferson hits on Bae’s oldest daughter, so he always throws him out. Also Dr. Whale can fill the Carlton role because I would love to see him do the Carlton dance.
Very special episode idea: We find out that a fairy tale character played by Ben Vereen is Rumple’s father.
Seeing the connection Rumple and Jefferson had in The Doctor made me wonder something. In the Season 1 episode Hat Trick, could Rumple have alerted Jefferson to Mary-Margaret’s escape thus enabling Jefferson to kidnap her?
