Ok you ditch Emma at seven and unlike many I don’t give you a pass on that, your freaking Pinocchio you know what it means to follow through with your promises you not just any ordinary child. Then you completely go over the line and show up 17 years later just to break Emma’s heart, give her trust issues for life (See what she did when she was getting close to Hook) and leave her alone again? Not to mention that Neal left Emma a whole lot of cash so she can take care of herself and what does he do?! Takes the cash and bounces to Phuket?! Seriously?! Now it seems like Pinocchio also set it up for Emma’s baby to go to Mr. Gold in Storybrooke just to lure her there! Guardian Angel? He straight manipulated her! I know she had to break the curse, her destiny, his mission all that. I just hate that he got her to do it in the most shady way possible! Ok I’m done

Before this episode I thought Pinocchio had a whole lot to answer for now some how he made it even worse?! I felt some sympathy for him turning back into wood and being ashamed to see his father but now I get why he’s ashamed. He took away the only person Emma knew that cared about her robbed her of her cash & split leaving her with nothing but a stolen yellow bug. He’s just a horrible, horrible big brother!
November 5, 2012 at 12:56 pm #159579faux paxParticipantI wouldn’t call him horrible. I would call him a douche though. Am I the only one that hopes he can start to make up for all the crap he’s pulled? I mean i know it won’t be easy, but if Regina and Rumple can pull it off…
November 5, 2012 at 2:16 pm #159592melliemdParticipantMan, you guys are acting as if he’s on par to the evil that Regina and Rumpel have done. ): He’s made mistakes, but I don’t think the one in this episode was one of them. It was a horrible thing, but he does it so that fate can ensure Emma will arrive in Storybrooke on her 28th birthday. Yeah, he got distracted by temptation again, but to him – our entire world is Pleasure Island. And Pinocchio DOES get turned into an donkey for a spell in Pleasure Island… He makes amends in the future AKA season one appearance, imo… And he’s been getting a lot more punishment than Rumpel and Regina have d:

Ok he’s not evil but he’s a manipulative jerk, he took the money that was ment for Emma and left her to go to his precious island! I know he was suppose to point her toward her destiny but did he have to do it in the most messed up way possible?! He didn’t make amends he came back and tried to save himself when he started turning back into wood. It was only once he thought he was gonna die that he started feeling ashamed of how he conducted himself starting from his first mistake of leaving Emma in the first place.

Yes, I don’t think he’s evil either, but he’s definitely very manipulative. I recognize the faults that Rumple and Regina have and like them for what they add to the show, but I don’t let them off the hook for their actions either.
He was wrong into playing puppet master by breaking up Neal and Emma just because he thought that she wouldn’t fulfill her destiny, and the parallels between him and the Blue Fairy were very strong in what he did to Emma/Neal and what she did to Grumpy/Nova.
Also, while the Emma of today might be cynical and jaded and may not have believed what was in the box, why didn’t he at least attempt to get her to believe that she was the Chosen One because back then there was actually a chance that she might have been convinced sooner especially if August had got Neal to help Emma believe rather than chase Neal off.
Not only that, but then he runs away again after he messes up Emma’s life instead of trying to help her once she was out of jail.
Then, when he finally comes to Storybrooke to try to “help” Emma again, it’s all because he didn’t fulfill his duty and is turning back into wood. He tricks Henry into thinking that they’re working on Operation Cobra together when August really has his own agenda, and then he dumps all the responsibility onto Henry just so he can spend time with his dad.

Another point to the idea that BF is the puppet master in this sense. I don’t like that she’s becoming so manipulative, but it’s interesting to see that Rumple isn’t playing chess against himself…

True, while I’m not happy with the Blue Fairy at all right now, it is a lot more interesting if Rumple isn’t the only chess master.
Now that I know that it must have been her that August got the information about Rumple from, which she means she had her memories all along, I’m wondering how far her manipulation has reached and of course why she’s been doing this behind the scenes.
I saw these Jane Espenson tweets on Television Without Pity too,
So I think that The Blue Fairy with August’s help manipulated Emma’s and Bae’s lives so that Emma would give up Henry for adoption that way the Blue Fairy could arrange for Henry to be adopted by Regina. I still believe that Emma is the Savior, but I also think that Henry is an important part of the puzzle not just because he was evidently needed to bring Emma to Storybrooke but something else since all the core characters are connected to him if Neal is Bae.

WORD, if Rumple and Regina can get a redemption arc, then so can Pinocchio. I wonder if in the end, it’ll be something that he does that eventually brings Emma and Neal back together again for their happily ever after.

I like that there’s someone in SB who can match wits with Rumple. Regina tries of course, but she’s got an inflated sense of her abilities. Blue is actually on par with him, though, (even if he doesn’t know it yet).
I’m wondering if August’s use of the term “guardian angel” for himself was meant to be a little hint about who’d sent him…Emma’s fairy godmother.
