So, I know this has been proposed in different ways, but here is my take on it.
When Bae goes through the portal, he ends up in Neverland and becomes the head of the lost boys…Peter Pan. The Lost Boys are looking for a leader, and Bae has shown leadership qualities when he stands up to his father and asks him to take the ‘right path’. Bae isn’t a coward. That being said, he longs for a mother figure, and doesn’t understand what happened to his mother, Mila, other than she’s just gone…perhaps he knows that she went to Killian ‘Hook’ Jones, which is another reason Peter Pan and Hook are enemies. He goes after Hook for revenge re: taking his mother. He wouldn’t know that she died at his father’s hand at this point.
Peter Pan has access to ‘our world’. If he can get to London to find a shadow, and find Wendy, then surely he could find his way to America, at least it’s not that big of a stretch. After all, the Peter Pan ‘portal’ is a pirate ship, I believe (at least in the Disney version), so why couldn’t that sail across The Atlantic.
I think this is an interesting theory, b/c if true, that would make Rumple, Henry’s grandfather, if Cassidy is Henry’s father (which all signs point to ‘yes’). It will also make for a potentially interesting love triangle if Emma and Hook get close in current FTL, and come back to Storybrooke where eventually Cassidy/Bae/Peter Pan will show up. He is Emma’s baby daddy and first/only love, and he won’t take kindly to Emma hooking up with, well, Hook! 🙂
Also, Hook is after Rumple, Bae/PP’s father, which would further Bae/PP’s cause to be after Hook, but it will be an interesting ‘reveal’ when Hook tells Bae/PP that it was his father, Rumple, who actually killed his mother, Mila, and the gruesome way he did it.
I think that would be a fascinating turn of events story to watch!
That’s my theory…and I’m sticking to it.

Time to hide your crazy, and start acting like a lady.

I always thought of Neverland as having magic but I still think it is possible that Baelfire might have passed through other lands on his journey to the land without magic.

Sure, that would make sense.

But I think bae tried to find a way back to the enchanted forest and ended up in Neverland, and frequently went from our world to Neverland since that what happened in the Peter Pan story. He used the fairy dust to transport between worlds, but he was in our world when the curse struck, he couldn’t get back into Neverland, and when his fairy dust runs out he starts aging again. This would account for the time difference, why he ended up in Neverland but yet escaped the curse, and finally why Neal was shocked about August’s box because it could have been the knife, as well as he didn’t say whether he believed in magic or not.

According to Barrie Neverland exists off the mainland (England) as to whether it is sky or see is unknown. So it is possible it exists in our world. What it could be is that either we have different type of magic (we have seelie and unseelie courts here and other supernatural creatures and happenings) that is more raw than in Fairytale land. It could also depend on magic from other lands that magic similar to Fairytale land. The other possibility is that these creatures are able to come into our world from other places. Perhaps through the spirit world–thinking Charles De Lint when I imagine it and the spirit world who has its own lands and such might have portals to other realms. So for someone who has magic similar to Fairytale Land they might be able to direct themselves they need to go by creating shortcuts (portals) and not get lost in the spirit world. And for those of us from a land with little to no magic it might only be achieved through dedication, practice, meditation etc but only in the way of walking through the lands rather than being able to create the portals etc.
