Did anyone else notice that it was cold in Storybrooke when the curse was broken (everyone wearing coats and some wearing gloves) but it was hot, late spring or sometime during the summer when the postcard arrived at Neal’s window? When he is leaving Central Park you can see a woman wearing orange shorts and what looks to be a black sports bra type top and the woman crossing Madison is wearing a sleeveless dress and her legs are bare. The first time we saw Emma it was her birthday…do we know Neal’s birthday? When we were introduced to Baelfire it was right before his birthday.

We also don’t know how long after the curse was broken that Pinocchio wrote the postcard. I don’t think they’ve shown any birthdays on the show other than Emma’s in the pilot. Of course, the people in the background in New York wearing summer clothes could be actual New Yorkers dressed that way because it was summer when the scene was filmed.

I’m no expert in North American climate, and sure a film crew has sometimes to work with things as they are, but think, already colder weather in Maine while having still some cozy summer like weather in NY is not impossible. My guess: we might have been in October when the curse was broken. The scene in SB looked like (early) fall day, a time when it can be cold, and some people start wearing winter stuff early. Trees were still green, so it was definitely not winter.

Assuming the carrier pigeon is able to do 800-900 km a day (that’s about what at least good modern carrier pigeons can do) and assuming that SB is somewhere up the coast of Maine, maybe near to Machias or Eastport, the pigeon could have done the distance in a day. We do know the curse broke at 8.15 (or shortly before), and think it was 815am, in the morning. So it’s possible, maybe with some magical extra speed, and assuming August sent the pigeon right away, that the pigeon could have reached Neal after work in the evening.

Still means the scenes we see with Neal are in the timeline at least some hours after what we see in SB at the beginning of the episode.

Possible as well: time in SB still works somewhat different. The whole frozen time thing in SB while the curse was still fully in effect is giving me some headaches anyway. But hey, it’s magic. 😉

It Could have been anytime, August could have still not sent the card, based on SB timeline, because it seems like something the authors would do, also will Neal know where Storybroke is as well as know that the postcard is about Emma, could he have forgotten? And how did the pigeon, or dove thing, find Neal? Last we knew he was in Canada, how did August know where to send the bird.

In real the pigeon or dove couldn’t have found Neal, they only fly back to their homes, they don’t find anything else. But we have seen Charming use a pigeon or dove in FTL to send a message to Snow, and he told that bird, “Find her”, had the impression, he didn’t know exactly where she was at that point. FTL bred pigeons might be a little different from ours. able to find people 😉
