Why the heck did King George needed the help of Rumplestiltskin to adopt a child? I understand wanting discretion when it comes to adopting the future monarch of you kingdom. Could he not simply ask one of his trusted minions to go pick up a child at a local orphanage then execute said minion upon delivery of the children? By the time the child is old enough to meet the crowd he would not be recognizable from when he was a babe.
To the best of our knowledge, Snow and charming have no claim whatsoever over the kingdom. That, I have talked about before but it seriously annoys me. Snow, is from another kingdom and Charming was not even raised by the king. I would understand the couple taking the throne after the passing of King George but because he was mean to the couple, wanting david to marry for convenience instead of love, to help better the kingdom in rough economic times, Snow and Charming take him out? so far, with the information we have, it looks like the kingdom of Snow (for which she DOES have claim over) was not enough for little ol’ Charming and he went to get himself another one. Keep in mind that we have no proof that George was Bad to his people.
Charming was put under a sleeping curse for absolutely nothing. Yup, it is my understanding that when henry goes to sleep, he goes to the flaming room… so… henry is never going to sleep again? Charming had a moment of heroic clarity when he suggested that he gets put under a sleeping curse instead of sending henry back there, unfortunately, the moment of clarity ends there… he just push back the inevitable for a few hours, took great personal risk and once again put himself before his people and his kingdom by deciding to go under. leaving the town without an acting sherif or anyone representing monarchy… leaving the town to the mercy of Regina and Rumplestilskin. We, the viewer, know that they are both on a path to redemption but Charming cannot be certain of such a thing, he even expressed doubts about about their so called change a few times… yes yes yes… whatever, Ruby and Leroy were still around, they are no match against the Evil Queen or Rumplestiltskin.

December 1, 2012 at 4:36 pm #163112gigiParticipant1/ Maybe the child he required Rumple to help is not a normal child. This kid is going to inherit the kingdom, so he should be some sort of Hero. Prince James was a hero but he was ill-fated.
2/ To be honest, I highly doubt that George was a good king to his people. Since he was an [ ]… Plus S+C didn’t need to be rightful heirs to take his kingdom. They were rebellions!
3/ Totally agree! Now Henry officially has no Bio relatives to look after him (don’t count gramps Rumple haha 😀 )December 1, 2012 at 7:00 pm #163119marilouParticipantI too have a feeling that George was not exactly an amazing king but in child of the moon, it didn’t take much for the people of SB to rally behind him… he could not have been that bad…
December 1, 2012 at 9:39 pm #163131gwendlParticipant3, Perhaps Charming was having a David moment? I think David can be summed up perfectly by the way in which he cursed himself, a p—- 😡
Although, with Charming gone I hope we can see Henry become the hero of the show.December 1, 2012 at 9:41 pm #163133evilqueenParticipantOr he could just be charismatic… I hate to bring this example but Hitler had a charisma and that gave him an enormous advantage during his speeches – people just followed him like sheep. But we can’t really say “he coul not have been that bad”.
As for your questions:
1) King George not only needed A son but he needed someone mentally fit to be a king. Also, he probably would’ve wanted a boy that would resemble him (physically) at least a bit. All this definitely limited the possibilities – after all, how a king can expect any peasant kid to grow strong and intelligent? Then, if he really wanted to go into this, he would’ve had to do a “research” among the ‘potential parents’ and, however discrete that can be, people surely would notice if strangers started asking weird questions and then a child disappeared while the king miraculously conceived a heir? It would be every king’s worry that something, some time, would be discovered (whether it’s a deal or a kidnap) and a gossip would start, then his kingdom would fall apart or start an internal war. With Rumple’s deal, he avoided all that – his ‘son’ not only turned out to be a handsome, strong, smart and charming but also his real parents were bound by magic to never speak about it. Convenient!
2) I think the only kingdom they fought for was Snow White’s when Evil Queen took over it – but even in this case, I don’t see how Snow would’ve had more rights to the kingdom than Regina, in the end she was a rightful Queen because she married Leopold (and it had its great sacrifice to it too!). They rebelled because EQ was, well, evil. Fair enough. But King George’s kingdom? Er, have they ever considered taking it over? What bit are you talking about, I think I must have missed something?
3) This is what’s been bugging me too. Both Charming and Regina protested when Rumple said Henry will have to go back to the red room – but how exactly would they stop him? So far there has been nothing on how to prevent the boy going there while he’s asleep, Rumplestiltskin only gave him the necklace to CONTROL it, not to stop him from going there and now even that is useless as Charming has it. So I really hope they will explain how exactly they can protect Henry from coming back to the red room otherwise it would be pretty stupid of Charming to do what he did and 5 minutes later Henry would meet him there anyway. Also, now Charming’s trapped there, wouldn’t Henry protest if Regina and Mr Gold stopped him from going to the red room?December 2, 2012 at 4:55 am #163199PheeParticipant@EvilQueen wrote:

Agreed, it was the most discrete and efficient way for George to go about it.
They end up living in George’s castle, use his table for their War Council, and adopt his family crest as their own. Also, we’ve seen George say to Charming in SB that she should have killed him when he had the chance. All of that amounts to them re-taking the kingdom that Charming is kinda sort heir to, even though he’d only been the kinda sorta heir for all of 5 minutes. If they have the choice of attempting to overthrow a mortal king or a magical queen, the former is obviously the more get-able goal. Once they achieve that, they no longer have to fear George, and have somewhere safe to live so they’re not constantly at the mercy of Regina.
3) This is what’s been bugging me too. Both Charming and Regina protested when Rumple said Henry will have to go back to the red room – but how exactly would they stop him? There’s another thread on here discussing this issue where I mentioned the same thing, but I believe it was the communication aspect of being in the room that caused Henry physical harm. If he falls asleep, sure he’ll go back to the room, and it’ll be scary, but as long as he’s not trying to communicate with someone against the room’s will, the room poses no actual physical threat to him. So Charming stepped into the role of communicator, to spare Henry the added trauma. Charming believed he’d go in, do the job, and come back out, so didn’t consider the problem of potentially leaving Henry and SB unguarded indefinitely.
December 2, 2012 at 5:17 am #163202evilqueenParticipantok, so:
2) i see, i missed it, never really linked the round table to King George, somehow. In that case, all I can think of is that Charming not so much went after King George’s kingdom but after the king himself, since he’s really been persistent with trying to make Charming’s life miserable. I believe his mother’s death would be the deciding factor and Charming would be fed up with constantly running away and it just had to be done.
3) but if that was the case, why would Henry be so so worried? He would simply fall asleep and see for himself. Also, wouldn’t he now be in danger trying to communicate to Charming? That would meant Charming’s actions even more stupid and pointless…in the sneak peek Regina and Rumple talk as if it's been a long time since Charming went under the spell and that they don't know if he delivered the message or not. That means Henry didn't have a chance to go back to that room and talk to Charming, otherwise they would've known. Even if they forbade him, Henry wouldn't be able to resist trying to talk to Charming…
It just doesn’t make sense – if Henry was going back there ANYWAY, why would Charming risk EVERYTHING just so that the boy wouldn’t have to talk to Aurora? If it was about Henry not going to the room at all, that would be an entirely different story but if he’s going to be there anyway, then what;s the point… 😕December 2, 2012 at 8:58 am #163214PheeParticipant@EvilQueen wrote:

And yes, a desire to de-throne George for what he’s done against him personally is certainly motivating Charming to take him down. The talk of taking back the kingdom started before Charming’s mother had died, but George had threatened her life, so the only way she’d be safe is if he was dead. Of course, they also could have gone back to claim Snow’s kingdom as their own, and could have shacked MamaCharming up there with her own personal guard, but like I said in my previous post, George was gonna be easier to take down than Regina.3) but if that was the case, why would Henry be so so worried? If it was about Henry not going to the room at all, that would be an entirely different story but if he’s going to be there anyway, then what;s the point… 😕Because it saves him excess trauma if he doesn’t have to go there with the mission to pass on information. And yes, as you say, if Henry now fell asleep, and ran into Charming in the netherworld, he’d try to talk to him and probably get injured again. Charming didn’t consider that possibility when he went under though, because he didn’t expect to be staying under, he expected to kiss Snow and wake up. The way his plan was supposed to work, he’d only be knocked out for maybe an hour or so, just long enough to run into Snow and have a chat. I’d love it if Henry puts it together and realises he can go check on Charming by falling asleep himself, but who knows if they’ll fit that into the storyline.
December 2, 2012 at 1:20 pm #163244frumpybutsupersmartParticipant2) As far as overthrowing King George, most of the population of George’s country probably supported Charming. They didn’t know he wasn’t the “rightful” heir to the throne – they’d just seen the prince not marry Midas’ daughter (who subsequently married someone else) and King George go nuts and start hunting his own son. It wouldn’t have been hard to convince the mass population to follow Charming, seeing as they all thought he was the rightful heir anyway; and he’s pleasant, good in battle, good-looking, and had a wife who was the most kind and beautiful woman in all the lands. Then, once they’d overthrown Regina, they could form a bigger, wealthier nation by the marriage of Snow and Charming.
