OMG, so many thoughts on the episode! It was awesome 🙂
But first of all -there is SO MANY questions they brought with this episode and they are all about Cora! It will be chaotic but bare with me, here are my reactions:
– Hook and Cora – the whole time I was just thinking “are they flirting or is it just a banter?” and then… Hook came SO CLOSE to her face! She obviously noticed it commenting “your pretty face buys you a lot”. IT’S FLIRTING! Maybe there wasn’t a romance as such but now I strongly believe they must have had a fling or something! This just calls for a shout out on their story, how did Cora find Hook and how did they come to work together? Neverland? Maybe Cora took a body of a girl that Hook slept with to get to him? 😈
And when they were in the cave, more sexual tension!
oh god, i'm going to die, the promo shows that the Evil Queen KNEW Hook too… HOW???– [skipping the awkward part of zombie chase]
– GRANNY ABSOLUTELY ROCKS, have I told you that? “they ARE delicious, didn’t take any dark magic either… oh and… I charge extra for the pickles” *wink wink Rumple!* 😆
– NOW THIS IS WHAT’S BUGGING ME: WHAT ARE REGINA AND RUMPLE TALKING ABOUT????? They thought she was dead? Regina saw her body? Rumple FOUGHT with Cora? When did that all happen???? Rumple says “I can handle Cora” and Regina comes back with “That’s now how she tells the story” WHOOOOOOOOT??? 😮 What is going on, we need to know! And then he adds that he won in the end… ???
– Regina is right though, Rumple obviously has a weakness now (and so does Regina) so they are both in trouble… Which brings me to the thought about how Belle reacted to Regina – or, in fact, how she didn’t react at all, it was like she was just another stranger and not the person who locked her away for 28 years or even back in FTL – I reckon there is yet another story they aren’t telling us!– Mulan is in love with Aurora! 😆 they obviously care for each other and she pretends she’s so honorable granting Philip’s wish but hey, she STOLE the compass from Emma and run away, this is not honorable, this is what teenagers in love do 😛 And she was all in tears when they took Aurora too…
– I had this big “aaaaaaaaaaw” throughout all the scenes of Regina and Henry! His blanket and everything, she cares for him SO MUCH. And grandpa Rumple telling him a bedtime story 🙂 I’m happy because Henry is finally seeing that Regina is changing completely for him and that she didn’t use magic except for to help the others. Which gives me hope that Regina will stick to being good as she sees the results of Henry being happy and letting her in. I mean, the moment when she explains to him that the curse “doesn’t smell very nice ” and she’s all like “I know sweetheart” and keeps on preparing it as if it was just a cake receipe – I couldn’t stop smiling how homely and cool it felt! I need an episode of what it was like between Regina and Henry before Emma arrived… She’s obviously changing for him but it also feels like they had a good relationship before Henry found out about the whole curse and FTL. And then Regina admitting that the Charmings “always find each other” just killed me!
– there is an obvious set up going on for Henry – we were discussing before that he might be tempted to use magic – and we see in this episode SO MANY HINTS. First, he is desperate to be a hero (“I was born to do this!”), then, when he comes back and Rumple heals his wounds, the camera stayed focused for some time on Henry watching his arm where the burns once were – he was obviously intrigued! And then the scene when Regina is finishing off the potion – he seems so fascinated with it! And he asks so many questions… I’m pretty sure he will want to try some magic soon!
The girls in FTL are also getting some good scenes:
– Snow is such a bad ass! And she speaks crow (I like that the others are like totally cool with this – a random birds sits on Snow’s arm, make some sounds and Snow is like “right, I got a SMS from Cora, she’s saying blah blah blah” and they are not even questioning how she understand it! I guess Snow has always had this thing for birds, even when she was cleaning at the dwarfs place 😆 ) And then she was ready to harm/kill Mulan with the arrow. And you’re telling me she’s innocent?
– Emma’s favorite quote of the year – the scene when they are fighting over the compass “I climbed the beanstalk for that, get your own!”.
– And Aurora is sassy!– ok, the scene of Snow with Emma – Snow saying that they could play the blame game forever and Emma is like – you know what, we will just blame Regina for EVERYTHING. ALL ALONG. It’s not like Emma just stumbled into her life and sort of took Henry away. And it’s not like there were also other villains like King George or Rumplestiltskin himself. And Cora. I do hope that Emma will eventually see the whole picture and that not everything in FTL is white or black, starting from the Snow White herself. I sort of get a feeling that this is just to set up a background for Emma to see how horrible Cora actually is in comparison to Regina and that she would rather stick to the Evil Queen despite all the hate she has for her.
– Charming and Snow scene (BTW, have you noticed how Snow calls Charming “Charming” when she is with him but when she spoke to Emma she called him “David” without thinking) – it was just heartbreaking, even for the Evil Queen like me…
– Hook. I’m still so mighty confused. So confused. I get he really isn’t on either of the sides, he works for himself but to look like he stand on one of the sides. I get that in the end, he wants to get both compass and magic dust and he will be just waiting for things to work out themselves while he just stands there, watching. He’s a bigger manipulator than Rumple! But HELL, he can now do magic and take hearts out??? WHAT?
– How did they know where Cora was anyway? And Aurora is a mole now. Does she know that? Hell, does she even know she doesn’t have a heart? She surely noticed if she stopped thinking of Philip?
[adrotate group="5"]November 26, 2012 at 3:36 am #162306warhorse78ParticipantHook seems to me to be a man on a mission, and he’ll do whatever it takes for him to complete. His mission, to skin a particular crocodile. He’ll manipulate, bend and twist the rules to all his liking, so as he gets to Rumpel.
And was it shown that he was the one who took Aurora’s heart????? Perhaps he knows another witch or wizard that we haven’t met yet. Maybe there is an evil fairie there that know’s magic. Snow once said that there are dark fairies as well as the good, maybe Hook, along with his journeys, met up with one. If you know the tale of Peter Pan, you know Hook has dealt with fairies before.
I noticed Emma calling Charming David. She’s going to call him David because that’s what she has come to known him as. People back in town seem to go back and forth with him, some call him David, some call him Charming.
Oh, and I agree, Emma had one of the two best lines in the show. Her “I climbed a bean stalk for that, get your own!” And Charming’s “I faced you, how bad can it be!” line to Regina. Hilarious.
And I am really liking Rumpel now. I like that he is actually helping Henry, and Charming, surprisingly, and so far, he don’t care whats in it for himself.
Have to laugh at Granny though. She was probably afraid that the Gun Fight at the OK Corral was coming to her Diner. LOL!
November 26, 2012 at 3:50 am #162314MyrilParticipantMost of what you’re asking is running through my mind too. And I doubt we will get all answered next episode, in the winter final. Ah, something to fill the looooong holiday break.

Emma is still feeling guilty herself, and sometimes it is unfortunately easier to blame someone else and particular someone you already deem responsible for some bad things. Emma knows still little about Cora, but I think, she will see in time, that Cora is probably the worse and the one more to blame. Although, there still is Rumple with all his meddling – is there anyone who hasn’t done a deal with him or had something to do with him at some point? Emma will not so soon forgive Regina, but guess work with her to stop the greater evil. And maybe in some far far away times they both will get a happy ending (maybe even together, I wouldn’t mind)
Right, Mulan acted a little like a lovesick teenager 😮
One more question: What’s the story between Rumple and Granny? There was speculation about a deal before, and now it’s sure there was something. Interesting how Rumple reacted in the diner. Well, I hope they’re going to tell it one day.
And Hook – he is a sexy heart taking opportunist, whoever will get him to SB to get his revenge, he doesn’t care. Now smart as he is, he told Aurora first to tell Emma, that the deal is still on – will Aurora remember that at some point?. Then he let Cora tell Aurora tell something different – and in a way, that I think made Emma wonder. She might suspect something. So how will they find out about Aurora? How will her story go on? Will she get her heart back? Or will she get at worst even killed, sending Mulan on a revenge mission?
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
November 26, 2012 at 4:05 am #162322evilqueenParticipantwhat just sprung into my mind when I was reading your opinion on Hook – what Hook asked to tell Aurora and what Cora actually said through her is in a way different and they should pick up on that – but most of all, Snow in particular should know Cora’s power. She caught her playing Lancelot already, then they quickly become suspicious of Hook and revealed he wasn’t telling them the truth to start with either. Then why on earth no one bothered checking if Aurora is actually Aurora and not Cora in disguise?
As for Granny and Gold – well, she had to pay him the rent, for starters! But yes, they must’ve met back in FTL as well, my theory is that it was Rumple who gave Granny the red cloak but in exchange he must have wanted something that led to separation between Red and her mother – I just can’t imagine Granny parting a family without a good reason!

Yes, it was nice to see Emma, Snow, and Regina all in the same episode again even if they didn’t interact, and have only two story lines going on. While I get what they were doing, I don’t think three storylines ever worked that well within the show because it was so hard to make them all connect to each other. It was also nice to see the show moving along to where it’s building to for the season. While I loved “Tallahassee”, aside from that episode and the first two, there’s been entirely way too much filler too early in the season, imo.
– Hook and Cora – the whole time I was just thinking “are they flirting or is it just a banter?” and then… Hook came SO CLOSE to her face! And when they were in the cave, more sexual tension!Yes, I agree that they definitely had a fling before, but hey Barbara Hershey still looks good for her age, and I could see Cora being seductive with her badass villain self. So I don’t think Cora would have needed to disguise herself as someone else in order to sleep with Hook. He does seem to have a thing for older ladies, well technically he’s older than Cora, but beauty wise because of Milha being older than him and now Cora.
– [skipping the awkward part of zombie chase]
I’m just glad that they didn’t drag that part out; although, in a way I was disappointed like all the hype about who Dr. Whale was and how Hook was going to be even worse than Rumple when he was first introduced, because I was like “that’s it?”, the way they hyped it, I expected more. They really need a new promo department because they keep getting it wrong.
– NOW THIS IS WHAT’S BUGGING ME: WHAT ARE REGINA AND RUMPLE TALKING ABOUT????? They thought she was dead? Regina saw her body? Rumple FOUGHT with Cora? When did that all happen???? I can’t wait to see the answers to these questions hopefully in next week’s episode at least some of them will be answered.
– Regina is right though, Rumple obviously has a weakness now (and so does Regina) so they are both in trouble… Which brings me to the thought about how Belle reacted to Regina – or, in fact, how she didn’t react at all, it was like she was just another stranger and not the person who locked her away for 28 years or even back in FTL – I reckon there is yet another story they aren’t telling us!
I can’t be the only Bae is Henry’s father believer to “woo!” at this. Yes, Rumple has Belle now as a weakness, but wait until he finds out that Henry is going to be his weakness like he is Regina’s. He’s even already all grandfatherly towards him especially in this episode which just turned me into a pile of goo, but that revelation about Bae being Henry’s father is just going to kill him. Hell, if I were Hook, if I found out about Bae being Neal, I’d just sit back and watch what happens when Rumple finds out and get my revenge that way well at least after I tell Neal that Rumple killed Milha.
– Mulan is in love with Aurora! 😆 they obviously care for each other and she pretends she’s so honorable granting Philip’s wish but hey, she STOLE the compass from Emma and run away, this is not honorable, this is what teenagers in love do 😛 And she was all in tears when they took Aurora too…
lol, I think so too! Although it doesn’t have to be a romantic love just a platonic love, but I definitely think it goes beyond just wanting to honor Phillip’s wish, not that she’s not honorable. So while I understand that some fans are a little annoyed with her after this episode, I don’t blame her for wanting to save Aurora’s life. Sure Cora may have ended up double crossing her, but she didn’t owe Emma and Snow anything. Plus, Snow was actually going to kill her or at least seriously hurt her over the compass, so Snow wasn’t exactly in the right in the situation either.
– I had this big “aaaaaaaaaaw” throughout all the scenes of Regina and Henry! His blanket and everything, she cares for him SO MUCH.
Yes, the Balfour (Baelfire) tartan bedspread!!!
– How did they know where Cora was anyway? And Aurora is a mole now. Does she know that? Hell, does she even know she doesn’t have a heart? She surely noticed if she stopped thinking of Philip?
I think Mulan rightly figured that she was still at the camp because that was Cora’s base when she was acting as Lancelot. Aurora is definitely unaware so far otherwise she would have been freaking out, but hopefully she or the others notice that something is off right away like with Cora pretending to be Lancelot. However, since we’ve never seen a heart be able to be put back into a person, and because of Aurora and Mulan not being seen around Storybrooke, I fear for both of them. Either they’re going to drag out the present day FTL story line somehow so that Aurora and Mulan can also come to Storybrooke so that Aurora can get her heart back since Cora is there or maybe they’re going to kill off Aurora and have her reunite with Phillip that way.
November 26, 2012 at 1:46 pm #162374RumplesGirlKeymasterMany good questions. My major one focuses on the focus between Rumple and Regina in Granny’s. Body? Battle? Cora? What?!
My other question is about the quill and ink. If Blue gave Cinderella and Thomas the quill…did she know it wasn’t magic? Can I add this to my list of reasons I don’t trust Blue? Here’s my still in progress theory about Rumple and Cora:
Rumple has this odd habit of introducing himself, which is odd given the original fairy tale. So I don’t think the miller’s daughter is going to guess his name. That wouldn’t fit with how Rumple presents himself. BUT what if Cora got ahold of the dagger somehow? If she had the dagger, she could control him, force him to teach her magic. He must do what she says, but somehow he gets it back (obviously). This would also explain why Hook seems like he’s more prepared to face Rumple this time around. During the Crocodile, he obviously had no clue about the dagger, and Rumple is always very careful about not letting people know about it (like the maid in The Return). If Cora knew about it, she could have told Hook, sealing their alliance."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 26, 2012 at 5:43 pm #162407GaultheriaParticipant@RumplesGirl wrote:

Maybe Rumpel is deliberately short-circuiting the magical clause that grants people power over him if they guess his name. By telling everybody his name, he ensures that nobody can guess it.

November 26, 2012 at 5:53 pm #162413evilqueenParticipantGood point Gaultheria! In that case, would it be him who wrote his name down in the book of spells? Spread his name so much so that everyone would know it and noone can technically ‘guess’ it. Also, what now strikes me, everybody seems to always call him by “Rumplestiltskin” (sooo much harder to pronounce, as beautifully demonstrated by Regina 😈 ) and not ‘the Dark One’ so it seems like he did go for it!
November 26, 2012 at 8:40 pm #162454RumplesGirlKeymasterHere’s another question.
I’m really irked by the sudden “ink not pen” revelation. There was no ink on that quill. He never dipped the quill. The BF also gave Cinderella that quill (putting this on my growing list of reasons I don’t trust the BF). And finally when Emma came to town originally, Henry couldn’t figure out who Gold was because he wasn’t in the book. Now suddenly he knows at least one part of Rumple’s tale, this Cinderella section. My questions is: why the change?! And what could ink possibly have to do with getting our guys back to SB? And why does henry suddenly know at least a small portion of Rumple’s EF life?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"November 26, 2012 at 8:50 pm #162457PriceofMagicParticipantThe revelation that it was the ink that ensnared Rumple and that he had a stash of it in his cell seems to confirm that Rumple planned for himself to get captured. The BF probably did enchant the quill but the enchantment alone would have had no effect on Rumple. Rumple probably is in the book but not in any great detail.
All magic comes with a price!
