Pure speculation here – I don’t like spoilers, so I don’t know if this is what will happen.
I think we now know both what Hook is planning for a revenge, and what it will actually be.
Hook saw Rumple rip off the heart of Milah, and crush it in his hand. I think Hook is planning to do the same thing to Rumple.
However, there is two things Hook does not know yet. 1) You can only kill the dark one with the dagger. 2) Rumple now has a weakness.I don’t think Regina would have brought up that point if it’s not meant to be important in upcoming episodes.
So, Hook’s revenge will be to rip off Belle’s heart. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hoping for this to happen. While I’m not Rumbelle fan, I don’t hate this storyline either. I just think this is what we’re heading to right now.

November 26, 2012 at 12:41 pm #162360becParticipantI agree that he will probably go after Belle, however i’m not convinced that his capable of ripping out hearts. We dont know what exactly happened with Auroras heart. Maybe Malificent took Auroras heart and Hook found it- we all know Hook is dishonest, especially with Cora, he would say anything to save his own skin. I just dont think hes capable of that, especially after what happened with Milah. The writers try to throw us off and make us think one thing but then something completely different happens. So i think this is one of those moments.
If he doesn’t go after Belle, i think he will look for the dagger as AntBee said. Because the tattoo does look like the dagger. But i dont think they will kill Rumple or Belle or even Hook because their major charcacters now, and many fans will be dissappointed. It’ll be interesting to see how the writers will do this without killing the characters.November 26, 2012 at 1:05 pm #162365ceegeParticipant@bec wrote:

You’re right, they do like to use misdirection. I don’t know if this is one of those moments but now I’m doubting my own idea. I guess that’s why I like this show.
Does anyone have a good screenshot of the tattoo? I did not really see it when it was shown on the show, so I’d like to know if it really is Rumpel’s dagger, or just a generic, pirate dagger.
November 26, 2012 at 1:18 pm #162369oncewatcherParticipantI really hope they don’t kill off Hook. I really like him, and a lof of other people do too. I hope they keep Hook on the show. Even now, there’s plenty of room to evolve, complicate, and utilize this character in a while world of ways. There is even still room for them to eventually turn Hook into a good(ish) guy. Not a missionary, but a good guy. I hope they’ll do that, and not throw all of this away.
November 26, 2012 at 1:58 pm #162376RumplesGirlKeymasterI think he knows about the dagger because he’s been working with Cora. My theory is that Cora knows all about the dagger, that’s what the battle was between her and Rumple. While I do think she is the miller’s daughter, it can’t be his “guess my name” thing from the original tale since Rumple has a habit of introducing himself to people.

Cora, being a former student of Rumpel’s, probably found out about its existence and kept that knowledge to herself. But after she learned that Rumpel helped Regina push her through the looking glass, I think she decided to spill her secret.

I don’t think Cora ever knew Rumpelstiltskin’s name when they first met, since he was known simply as “The Dark One” in the early days after he lost Baelfire; that’s what Smee called him. Captain Hook of course knew Rumpel’s name because of Milha, but he left for Neverland. Also, the townspeople who knew pre-dark Rumpel died centuries before Cora’s birth, since Rumpel is 300-years-old and Cora is probably no older than 60-years-old; Rumpelstitskin’s name could have been lost to history until Cora came along and guessed it. After that, Rumpel had no reason to keep his name a secret.
Also, I think the writers will keep the storyline somewhat close to the original fairytale in which the miller’s daughter had to guess his name. Perhaps the twist will be she learnt his name not from her servant overhearing Rumpel say his name but from seeing his name written on his dagger. Henry Sr. said that Cora never spoke Rumpel’s name, not even to him. Also, Cora wrote down the name in her book of spells, perhaps as a way to remind herself what happened between them. I agree that Cora likely knows about the dagger and that she let Hook in on the secret. I agree that Hook probably intends to use the dagger on Rumpel’s chest the way he tried to do with his hook but failed in 2×4.
Also, the concept of names being important to Rumpelstiltskin has been touched on several times already. In the pilot, Rumpel’s jail warden warned Snow and Charming not to give their names, otherwise he’d have power over them. Of course, Rumpel knew it was them. Also, Rumpel wanted the name of Snow’s unborn child, Emma, which Adam and Eddy have said was the trigger that allowed Mr. Gold to remember his FTL identity. Finally, in True North. Emma inquired from Mr. Gold the name of Hansel and Gretel’s father; Mr. Gold pretended to look up the name on an index card, but the card was blank. Mr. Gold obviously remembers the name of everyone he’s ever interacted with before. So, names are of great importance to Rumpel, and this seems to be linked to his own story of when the miller’s daughter, Cora, guessed his own name.

interesting theory about the names, slurpeez!
And one more thing – now Hook has turned out to be obviously just as bad as Rumplestiltsking himself. It’s a bit hypocritical, seeing that he wants to kill him for the very thing Hook himself has become. Would the writers pick up on this or will Hook’s soul not be open for any redemption/forgiveness?
November 26, 2012 at 6:15 pm #162416oncewatcherParticipantI would say there’s definitely room for redemption and forgiveness. Remember: Hook didn’t kill Aurora. He must have taken her heart while she was knocked out, because she didn’t seem too traumatized. Ultimately, I think Hook is still trying to get revenge while trying to align circumstances to his advantage. He does seem to genuinely care about Emma in some way, and so I think his taking Aurora’s heart was merely a tactical move. I don’t think he intended to really hurt her, nor do I believe he would let Cora kill her.
