I’ve looked the swordfight scene many times now ( even took off my shipper goggles to see it) and there no way Emma could have truly beat him.. Lets look at the facts .. He’s a 300+ year old pirate so we know he’s a master at the sword, Emma has barely begun to use a sword…
Yes they both used street-fighting techniques (Emma with the Kicking/Punching.. Hook with using his hook) but he was more interested in basically flirting with her than beating her.. I don’t think he expected the punch to knock him out or at least he’s a good actor. It was like was just standing there waiting for her to do something and she ended up punching him.
He always had a backup plan and he knew that even without the compass he could still get to Storybrooke by using the bean..So he had to help them without actually helping them..
Well that’s just my theory and I seriously cannot wait to see him in Storybrooke

December 4, 2012 at 12:59 am #163583maiqu20ParticipantIt’s not sinking its sailing better than ever (he compared her to the bean he said she was magical and full of hope)
December 4, 2012 at 2:29 am #163596elleParticipantI think he wanted to help Emma. He may hav seen how desperate she was when she came, and nor would he want her as an enemy when he got to Storybrooke. He migt try to use that to his advantage. 🙂

It’d be to his advantage if Emma thought she had bested him in that sword fight, because it’d lull her into a somewhat false sense of security for their future encounters.
It’d also be nice if he did have a moment where he thought he’d help her get back home to her son. After all, he does know the pain of being separated from someone you love.

Also saving Aurora’s heart? I have no idea but it does just seem to me that Hook would easily be able to beat Emma in a sword fight there’s at least a chance he threw the fight.

Exactly.. Even though he was truly hurt by Emma leaving him he still wanted to show her in a way that she could trust him..And he knows he needs to be on her good side in Storybrooke..Plus he recognized a kindred soul in her and now he can’t get her out of his mind no matter what he tries so he pretends like he feels otherwise and “fights her” but really there are like 3 instances were. He could have easily won instead he made sure to draw out the fight.
I think that too.. I mean he didn’t want to be the cause of another mother separated from her son..
December 4, 2012 at 8:08 am #163621craxyfoxParticipantI loved his ‘sliding sword’ joke, and I do believe he threw the fight. Like mentioned previously, he’s a 300 year old pirate. If he hasn’t acquired masterful sword skills during these years, then we have a problem.
He has a small soft spot for Emma and I would love to see this grow. I agree with Maiqu20, maybe it was his intention to give Emma a head start back to storybrook. He knew he had the bean so Cora wouldn’t rip him apart, but he may have wanted to help Emma without making it obvious 😆

Yes, it may have been his way of making up for having taken Milah away from Bae. He’s seen how badly that situation can end, and he doesn’t want the same fate for Emma. I think he respects her a fair bit.

Are you referring to when he had her pinned down and slowly slid his hook down her sword, because if so, then yes, yes I loved that too. Suggestive action much? 😉 😆
December 4, 2012 at 9:18 am #163625becParticipantHook definately threw that fight. He even stuck his sword in the sand to grab her leg, when he could’ve just stabbed her with it.
I think he was trying to make the fight fair, which is what he said to Mulan and Emma that he likes a “fair fight”.
I think it’s pretty obvious that Emma is already distracting Hook from his revenge. Because if he was really set on his revenge, then he would have just quickly killed Emma (which he had the chance) and kill Mulan and Snow, grab the compass and jump in the portal. But instead he decided to tease Emma and flirt with her. Its like she brings him to life again, because when he is not with her, you can see that his eyes are dead looking- theres little emotion.
And I love the bean metaphor! The bean turned out to be all he needed- just like Emma will be.This episode pretty much confirmed Captain Swan!
It’ll be interesting though when Emma and Hook meet in SB again. I wonder what Charmings’ reaction will be when he sees how Hook and Emma interect.
