Is there a significance in the knot Hook left behind in the library.

First the name made me think of the “Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacobs where the characters have to learn that “Magic comes at a price” and you should be really careful what you wish for. Themes that Once upon a time explores a lot and we saw again in this episode. Hooks wish for revenge did not turn out the way he expected it, Belles wish for adventure in FTL was not what she expected it would be.

Then I looked it up and saw that the knot is used in lifelines (Hook being saved from himself anyone?) and to transport gemstones, could there be something in the knot?

What do you think, was it just a red herring or is there more to the fist?

I don’t know what the significance of the knot itself could be, however, I think Hook deliberately left it for Belle to find.

She walked onto the ship and found Archie way too easily. Hook said he knew the ship like the back of his hand so it is possible that he saw Belle come aboard the ship and was concealing himself until the time was right.

All magic comes with a price!

    I agree.

Hook left it behind for her to find.
