I came into the forums today to see a mess. There were some humorous spamming, some borderline “bullying,” and lots of passionate opinions.

Please remember our rules to keep conversations on topic and civil. We all have opinions and we may have even stronger opinions against other opinions. But we each can choose to express those opinions and respond to others’ in ways that are mutually respectful and build community here.

We had a rough day today and things got out of hand. It happens sometimes, but we can move on.

When conflict arises, I like a model taught in the Bible: approach each other directly with the purpose of resolving; if that doesn’t work, bring me in ([email protected]); and if that doesn’t work, then we may need to take public actions (as I had to by removing a bunch of stuff today).

I’ll be looking for help moderating the forums more.

Seriously, you can email me directly: [email protected].

Thank you Daniel for stepping in. I think forum moderators are very much needed.

Moderating discussions, moderating forums means to walk a fine line between giving people the space to thrive, freedom of speech, and keeping it civilized and enjoyable for everybody. Not an easy job at times, and can’t be around all the day.

Think you’re doing a good job. And how you handled things today was the right way.

    ¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯

Have to say, I really don’t think what was written was that bad. People where just joking around, but if it was percieved in a different way by some people involved, that is not good ofcourse.

But after the post disappeared I kind of thought: Where did the key to the library go ? Who put the blinds on the windows ?
    Just saying 😉

Daniel you surprise me. I got on to some other people on the board for bullying a poster. How is what you did any different? You eliminated everything abourt Colin O’Donoghue. Why did you do that?

I personally feel that a poster has a responsibility to abide by the rules of this forum as posted in the beginning. We can discuss the theories but we do not attack other posters. Sometimes we get too passionate about our theories and all good sense and civility goes out the window. I like to read ideas and theories and this forum is best when we stick to those.

The situation turned nasty and got very messy. I didn’t have time yesterday to sort through it with the care and respect it deserved. So I moved the threads to a place where I can re-examine them before putting them back, which I’ll be doing today.

When posts break the rules, they’ll be moderated or removed, as the rules say. It’s very rare that I have to step in to do that because, in general, everyone is so good at sharing and discussing passionate opinions with respect for each other.

UPDATE: Some of the topics are back. I had to clean them up and merge some things to keep everything tidy.
