So we have now seen The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne turn up in each season. Once with MM and now with Ruby. So is this a LOST Easter egg, or does it have further meaning? After the giant hole Anton made that must have provided a way to the caverns under SB or perhaps a portal to another world or the kingdom of the wraith… they made it look bottomless, I was wondering if it was possible for SB to somehow disappear in the end. Just as Nemo brought his crew to the Mysterious Island, Regina brought her picks to SB. SO I am wondering if there might be more significance to that books appearing again than just a LOST reference?

That’s a nice observation! Never thought of the mysterious island as anything else but yet another nod to LOST, but it would be interesting to see if there’s more to it…

Lancelot referred to the ‘Safe Haven’ as an island.
Maybe it’s alluding to the fact that we will learn more about the little part of land that Cora protected from the curse.

Had to look up which other ep it had been in, (7:15am for anyone else who’s wondering). Very curious that it’s made multiple appearances. Wouldn’t think that would be sheer coincidence. Hmmm.

I couldn’t tell yet whether it’s the same book from “7:15 a.m.” If it is, then it has production crew names on it.

The book alludes to a lot of things.

We know we’re going to see Oz at some point.
In the book, it’s a balloon that crashes, stranding them on the island.

The date of the storm that causes the crash is March 23.
    Neal’s DOB is March 23 (1977)
We know Neal is in Manhattan – Manhattan is an island.

Ok, so, if the book also appears in 7:15 am, that could also be a nod.
Considering the significance of the book on LOST-

There’s an eps title “A Tale of Two Cities”.
In that eps, they prominantly show the time on Jack’s pager as being 7:15.
That title is referring to two societies ‘colliding’ – The Survivors and The Others.
As with OUAT two societies are colliding – Storybrooke and (thanks to Greg’s arrival) The Outside World.

It is the same edition as from “7:15 am.”

Nice Gypsy! Didn’t think of Manhattan being an island, just thinking New York. 😀
