Just listened to Barbara Barnett’s radio show Let’s Talk TV, where she revealed some spoilers for “Manhattan” (she has seen a rough cut and chatted with Jane Espenson about it). I managed to take a few notes…no huge spoilers were revealed, but there were some new teasers. I might have missed a few things, but here’s what caught my ear…
We will find out about Rum’s relationship with his father.
There is at least one reveal that could shock fans, even if other things have been guessed in advance.
Greg has been snooping around and he sees something. Also there’s something important about his phone that Jane Espenson didn’t want to be given away. He records something on his phone.
Greg’s “Her” isn’t important, and neither is his license plate, aside from the fact that he’s not from Storybrooke.
The process of how Cora, Regina, and Hook find Rum’s dagger is interesting. They find a clue in the library, something that Hook has some insight into, being a pirate.
There is an interesting betrayal that happens along the way involving the question of who is Regina’s real enemy.
Their reason for wanting Rum’s dagger is not to kill him. There is “a devious plan afoot” that could make things scary for Rum.
We will find out why Rum left the dagger behind on his trip to find his son.
Henry and Gold spend some time alone together. “It’s beautiful…Gold says some things to Henry that are really cool.” He buys Henry a hot dog.
There is a loving relationship between Milah and Rum. Rum’s relationship with Milah is described as “sweet, fun” and more open in contrast to his relationship with Belle. He leaves for battle not knowing that Milah is pregnant. We will see how their relationship changed so profoundly.
We will find out how Rum became a coward.
We will not see ogres.
Rum was not drafted into the ogre wars; his service was voluntary. We will find out why he decided to fight, and why he left.

And I wasn’t sure if it would be weird if I send you a request so that I could copy and paste your notes just so I could comment on some of them.
We will find out about Rum’s relationship with his father.
I didn’t expect to find anything about Rumple’s relationship with his father this soon. I wonder if there’s something to their family line???

I’m so looking forward to this since I hope it’s about the Seer and what prophecy/prophecies she made.
Greg’s “Her” isn’t important, and neither is his license plate, aside from the fact that he’s not from Storybrooke.
At any other time, I would be interested in Greg, but I just want the whole episode to be more about finding about Rumple and seeing Rumple, Nealfire, Emma, and Henry in NYC together.
There is an interesting betrayal that happens along the way involving the question of who is Regina’s real enemy.
Okay, this is sort of weird. I think it’s Cora, but that seems like it would be too predictable according to the spoiler, so maybe it’s Hook. That doesn’t make sense either because that’s too predictable, and the writers have said that his quest for revenge on Rumple is far from over.
Henry and Gold spend some time alone together. “It’s beautiful…Gold says some things to Henry that are really cool.” He buys Henry a hot dog.
OMG! I already know that this is going to be one of the moments in this episode that kills me. I’m already looking forward to seeing my dashboard filled up with .gifs of Grandpastilskin and Henry together in NYC. 😥
Rum was not drafted into the ogre wars; his service was voluntary. We will find out why he decided to fight, and why he left.
Drat! I should have predicted that Rumple actually volunteered his service because that makes it even more ironic that he became labeled as a coward. (I still believe that there was nothing cowardly about pre-Dark One Rumple, but he became one after he became the Dark One.)
I want this episode so badly.

February 12, 2013 at 4:39 am #172650kranenParticipantLet me start with telling you that Barbara stated we’ll receive more than one interesting reveals in this episode and some of them have been already guessed right but the one that is the most shocking (she referred to it as a scene that totally made her gasp) hasn’t actually been guessed by fans so far and she won’t even hint it because it completely threw her over, like she didn’t realize it’s gonna happen just two seconds before it happened so she won’t take that away from us!
Urg. I don’t like this. It’s not good for my heart. I hate shocks. My heart only just suck back into place after Hook shot Belle & she fell over the line (I so didn’t see that coming!)
February 12, 2013 at 4:51 am #172651kranenParticipantAlso, August makes a brief appearance? What? Why wasn’t Eion in the press release? I guess August must still be a puppet so Eion wasn’t needed. Or I was right the other day & the scenes they were filming were for Manhattan & Eion wasn’t available back in December.
February 12, 2013 at 4:58 am #172653CrownedWithLaurelsParticipantOh my goodness. Can’t handle this. Not ready to face a big reveal without knowing in advance. 😮 😮 😮 😮 Can’t wait!
Keeper Nealfire's/Bae's scarf, Henry and Neal's bribery ice cream sundae, Baelfire's sword, the coconut map, and more.
February 12, 2013 at 5:09 am #172655CrownedWithLaurelsParticipant. ~ consequentially Barbara is pretty certain that Milah lied to him when she told him that she never loved him.
~ apparently Milah’s family will be the cause that changes everything and puts them into the state they were in “The Crocodile”I got to thinking after reading this that maybe she was lying to Rumple because she really was taken/kidnapped? And if she told Rumple the truth in that moment, Hook threatened to kill NEALFIRE PAN???? I don’t even think it goes with what we’ve already been shown, but even so, just a thought that popped into my head.

I would love it if that twist happened between Milah and Hook, but it probably won’t happen through. Good twist idea through.
