General Thoughts of Manhattan 2.14

First: how awesome is it that 2 displaced fairy tale characters met and fell in love?

The writers were clever this time as I believe the big reveal was not Neal as Bae, but Emma. She has changed so much since we first met her. She is vulnerable, loves Henry more than anyone, and we finally see how much she truly loved Neal. She even dresses differently ie, her hair is long and wavy a la princess, hip nails, cool outfit. You can tell that the fact Rumple knew that she would break the curse, took away the fact that her life was not her own, was something that she has not completely forgotten.

So when she finds out Neal is Bae, she freaks out because now it seems as if her life, even her love for Neal was planned. He confirms that it was not, and tells her that he left her “so she could go home”. But home was a lot different to Neal, than what it had become since the curse had been enacted.

We see had more proof of how much our dear Emma loved Neal, when he noticed that she had the necklace. She looked as if she had been caught w/her hand in the cookie jar. So, she ripped it off , and said she wore it as a reminder to never trust anyone again.

She also calls her mother for help, and was brutally honest with Henry and herself,It was amazing!

Timeline: so technically Bae is a bit younger than lets say, Hook, but here he is the same age as Emma. So did he fall through the portal in our time as a 14 year old, 300 years ago and remained whatever his age is now when the curse was enacted? We know that when Emma broke the curse, it broke here & in Present Day Enchanted Forest, so did Bae’s age freeze at whatever it was in our time when the curse was enacted, so he really is several hundred years old? He gave the impression that he had been around longer, than lets say his 30 something years, when he told Rumple that he saw that final moment w/his father, and he let him go.

Props to another master manipulator, August. He destroyed Neal, Emma and even Henry’s life because he ditched Emma, and did not protect her as he was meant to do. He manipulated Neal into leaving Emma, & let her go to prison, by telling Neal, what he knew was his worse nightmare, that someone knew his real name. So, I think that he did convince himself that the reason he let Emma go, was so she could go home. But when u see that guilty look on his face at the bar, escaping the reach of his father meant more than Emma. And to make it worse ? Neal tried to make things right, but August stole the money that he gave to him for Emma, but did give her the car & the key chain.
