Am I the only one on here who really thinks that Emma is the only one with a right to be angry? With the exception of her lying to Henry, everything that is happening around her was the whim of some Fate that she couldn’t control. She was the only REAL victim of the curse. Everyone else just lived their one year over and over again without memory — not the worst fate. She was (for all intents and purposes) abandoned on the side of the road, abandoned by August, shuttled through the foster system, abandoned by Neal (because of the same curse in the first place,) forced to give up her child… Everyone’s reaching over her head and deciding her fate for her. Her life has gone to the tubes because of this curse, and she’s stuck dealing with the consequences to save everyone else.
I honestly even agree with her motion to hide Henry from Neal. (Not necessarily to lie to Henry, but that’s a different thing.) After all, for all she knows, this guy left her for the same reason everyone else did. He really, really, really, really hurt her. Not to mention that Henry is eleven. Though there is some protection of herself, her choice to hide Henry from Neal didn’t come from self-preservation. In fact, it would have been BETTER for her if she hadn’t. Going up against Rumplestiltskin isn’t exactly the most intelligent thing to do on the best of days.
She really IS the only one with a right to be angry. (And Henry. She really should have told him the truth about his father. He probably would have sided with her on the issue.)

total agreement here

#MoreBOOMLessGloomMarch 2, 2013 at 11:00 pm #176268rczParticipantYou just put all my thoughts into words. All the time, I was thinking “Did the writers simply forget that Emma, like any other human being, have feelings?”
I mean, seriously, she found out that her parents are Snow White and Prince Charming, that they are the same age as her, that the woman who looked after her son for years is the Evil Queen, that Dr. Whale is Frankenstein and that he brought Regina’s dead fianceé back to life, that Neal knew about her and magic, and now, that Mr.Gold is Henry’s grandfather and in someway, her father-in-law.March 3, 2013 at 1:10 am #176283nodParticipantWhat’s worse is that Neal and Snow (and the writers) are sort of treating it like it’s all her fault that this situation happened. Neal blames her for keeping Henry from him, (even though she tried to find him for YEARS and could not,) and Snow offers no comfort and then chastises her for lying to Henry. It’s like the writers don’t see it at all. I may have to write them an annoyed letter if she lays down and takes it all.

BUT I believe Snow/Neal love her SO much, and wanted to do the right thing, to save everyone from the curse, it probably was the hardest thing they every had to do, maybe not the smartest thing to do (especially Neal, Snow I forgive, but Neal could have thought up other alternatives); but I believe in the end, Neal is good, his heart was in the right place, he wanted her to find her home, her parents. What I really want is for Neal to apologize to Emma, show us he regrets its, that he always thought about her, let us see him heartbroken, even if Emma will not forgive him, I think it would help the story. I love that in this show, not everything is black/white, and you understand why people make mistakes, and I hope that Emma can learn to forgive them in the future, so she can find closure and happiness. Because my ultimate ship is : Emma+Happiness…

She’s had a rough life but she’s also a survivor and when she’s on her game, she doesn’t get pushed around by many people. She’s too strong to become a punching bag but I’m not gonna lie….I worry about this a little bit too. Hopefully they let her stand up for herself soon.
BTW-I still hate that Henry compared Emma to Regina in that one scene. I just rewatched it (ABC is rerunning OUAT on Saturday nights throughout March at least) and that broke my heart for her all over again. 😥

I Agree Emma is strong and independent, these are 2 of the things I love about her most! So I believe she will stand up for herself, and for me at least she has already started with her emotional confrontation with Neal…

OH PLEASE!!! NEAL is total coward …worse then his father… he ran away from emotions and because he did not want to have to deal with his father. ( Rumple ran away from war and possible death but also to protect his son.) For all Rumple’s faults he loves his son and just wants to protect him. Neal on the other hand to avoid his father… abandon Emma and thus his own son… then he thinks he earns the right to interfer with Henry’s upbringing.
Let us see what Bae has to do when he has to deal with Regina. How will he protect Henry then? So far what I have seen in Neal is a thief and a coward…
Emma the sap will probably still love him but she should not….
