I love Bailee Madison, I really do. I have no doubt we will see her name in many big films in the years to come, and will even see her get an Oscar some day. But in tonight’s episode (The Queen is Dead S2E15), she was wayyy over acting, especially in the scenes when she was at her mother’s side, just before she died. That’s when the director needs to step in and say WHOA dial the acting back a little bit.
She’s a terrific actress but the director really needed to dial her back a little.

What I think you see as over-acting was just Bailee playing the part. Snow, whether she’s Ginnifer or Bailee is a dramatic character.
I think the girl should win an Emmy for the scene where Eva dies, because her emotion was amazing. What really impresses me the most though is that either she and Ginnifer just happen to have similar expressions, mannerisms, and acting styles, or Bailee is actually that good at playing not just Snow but Ginnifer Goodwin’s version of Snow. I already loved her for the character by looks alone, but she blew me away this episode.
But to each is own. 🙂

I lost my mom at 27 but I was brought back to that time in a big way through Bailee’s performance. I think she is remarkable. I have directed a lot of kids her age and she is beyond anything I have ever seen.

I happen to fall on the side that thinks she’s great I’ve loved her appearances as young Snow cause it’s not just that she’s a believable as a character but as the way her adult counterpart plays the character. You really believe that this is the young version of Snow it’s incredible to me.

Bailee Madison is only 14 years old. So of course her acting won’t be as good as others on the show who have had more experience than her. I think she did an amazing job, especially for a 14 year old, and she played a young Snow very well. Especially the scene where Eva dies. She was so convincing. Hats off to her! 😀March 5, 2013 at 7:58 am #177262PheeParticipant@ItachiIshtar wrote:

Yes, there’s a vid floating around somewhere where Bailee is saying that on her computer she’s got a whole folder full of screenshots of Ginny’s expressions, so she could learn how to mimic them. Such dedication to the acting craft at such a young age is impressive. That girl is gonna win awards some day.

I mean yeah I know she is 14 years old but there are some child actors that really are born with the talent and then there are some that learn through their acting career. Let’s face it she is learning and she tried her best, it was a real close imitation of Ginnifer’s acting but I did find it a bit distracting from the story. Good episode though.
March 5, 2013 at 8:24 am #177267MatthewPaulModeratorI think most of us could safely agree that Baile Madison is at least a far better child actor than Jared Gilmore. I’ve seen way more complaints about his acting than most of the cast.

How would you like it if somebody started making remarks about somethi you absolutely poured your heart in? If something needs to change in her acting, it’s the director’s job to pick up on that not yours.
Secondly I think she did absolutely wonderful, we see Snow do things, like scold a servant that was un-Snow-like (but will make sense, come next episode) that were hard, and she did fabulous. Don’t forget, we see this gorgeous set, they are in a green room.
And ItachiIstar,, same goes for Jared, he is doing great. The madness about his mother’s lies could be better, but I think this is the writer’s fault. They have given him lines that are unnatural for him, and he is making the best out of it that he can. He is however to young to say: Hey, this does not work, I wouldn’t say that, let’s try it ….. , like a Robert Carlyle might do. He’s a kid, so he does what he is told. Again, not his fault. (The cheezy pizza line was horrid and stupid. Henry is too young (and still innocent) for sarcasm, and Jared is clearly just saying the line because he had to. The producers are trying to create an animosity between them that isn’t there, just so Emma and Gold have common ground. It should have been cut) -
