Those who get Turner Classic Movies (TCM) may want to watch for a couple of movies in the next two weeks which have elements that might appeal to Once fans.
On April 22 at 8:00 PM EDT, TCM is showing The Wizard of Oz. The connection to Once is obvious.
On April 30 at 10:00 AM EDT TCM is showing The Strange Love of Martha Ivers. Even though this film has no magical or fairy tale elements, it tells a story that Once fans will recognize. Barbara Stanwyck stars as the eponymous character, a woman who desperately wants to be loved but whose wrong choices lead her to ever more evil acts. Sound familiar? I find that Lana Parilla’s portrayal of Regina reminds me a lot of Barbara Stanwyck’s portrayal of Martha Ivers.
