Hi Everyone ~
I had to work all day and just got home and have been trying to catch up on the posts for last night’s awesome episode. I spent all day thinking about my show and have a big question about one of the scenes. My computer battery died at the start of last night’s podcast too so you may have discussed this last night too. Like I said I just got home and have been reading so I hope this has not been addressed anyway yet. If I am repeating conversations I apologize.
The scene under the library is very confusing to me. Here my question:
1) Did Regina know that Maleficent was now just ashes?
2) If she did know this then Maleficent was not a threat and she really did not need Hook as a distraction, right?
3) If Hook had not come along how was she going to get her failsafe jewel?
4) Hook does not pose a threat to Regina so why would she want to get rid of him?
5) What happened to Maleficent? Did Hook have the magic tazer thing and kill her? If he did how would GOAT know to give Hook the magic tazer. They had no idea that Regina would bring him down there and how would they know that Maleficent was even down there? Did they give the magic tazer to Hook to kill Regina? If they did why did he not use it on her? Was he trying to win her trust to get secrets from her?I think those are my questions for now. I have others but I am hoping that if some of you have any answers so insights it might offer me some clarity. I probably have just over thought it and made it too complicated but that is what happens when you are stuck at work and trying to concentrate but can’t because every other thought goes back to OUAT!
Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! Thanks guys! 😀

She knew that Emma survived, and got the egg, so she probably surmised what happened. She had magic after 122 and may have gone to check on Mal after, to make sure things were in place. It’s not like locks exactly keep her out of places.
2) She also set up the magic that “preserves her in whatever form she’s in” to protect the failsafe. So she knows Mal’s still a threat to anyone down there.
3) She would have found another way. But Hook made things convenient. She was probably still working it out–maybe trying to figure out how to trick one of the Charmings into helping her or something. Who knows.
4) Hook’s a useful tool to her, nothing more. However, his knowing stuff about what happened could be dangerous to her (Gold & the Charmings have beaten her often enough for her to know they can’t be let in on what’s happening). So he’s useful as a distraction, and then he’s taken care of as a problem if he dies. Neat solution for her.
5) Who knows…maybe we’ll find out. Hook escaped and GOAT helped him get back up–that’s what matters for now.
No such thing as overthinking it.

So it could be another tool, or they came down and tasered Mal–or maybe it was that once the cuff started working on Regina, her magic faded away. Perhaps it was not an instant shut down–so her “sustaining” spell on Mal just wore off once the cuff kicked in, and that’s what he meant by GOAT saving him.

I saw a tweet from Adam last night about this.
@OnceUponAFan the band wasn’t “activated” until Greg and Tamara showed up. It’s science not magic.

Guess it is something left open far as exactly what he meant that they saved him if it wasn’t the band they already gave him then.
But that Tweet….makes me 🙄 even science can work at a distance….(mutters to self about quantum entanglement)

Science seems to be tricky in SB then because I can’t figure out how Regina end up back in the library. When they first got into the library Regina made a comment about how the elevator need two people to work it, but with magic that is no longer an issue. But if the cuff took away her magic then how did she work the elevator to get back up? When we saw Emma go down and back she needed help getting back up. Infact she had to climb her way out because there was no one on top to help her. Regina was tied up and Gold was already gone. Regina is not very athletic so could not have climbed but the scene showed her getting out of the elevator. So if the cuff took away her magic which probably weakened Mal how did she get up?
If GOAT is so against magic how would why would they use magic to get Hook out of the cave? They must have helped Hook use the elevator but how would they know when he was ready to come up? If he yelled up for wouldn’t Regina hear him calling for help?
How far of a walk from the elevator to where Mal and the coffin is? If the distance is enough maybe that is why she did not hear Hook call for help?
I really like that idea that Regina’s power became less which is why Mal became weak. I wish we could have seen that happen though.

I posted Adam’s tweet about this. The cuff didn’t “activate” until GOAT had arrived after Regina got up from the elevator. Don’t ask me how. 😆

I wonder if the tasered Mal. Would that “kill” her officially?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 30, 2013 at 2:59 am #189915lilysmomParticipantI think she is already dead. That was just her essence that we saw.
April 30, 2013 at 3:09 am #189922swanning-offParticipantEssence – a good way to describe it. Malificent has definitely seen better days! She looked more like a Ringwraith (LOTR) than a dragon. Interesting to see that the magic of sustaining her as a guardian “whatever form she is in” essentially prolonged her life once she was dead.
No idea how Hook got out. But one thing – the elevator was a “two man job” as Hook said at the start. GOAT could have just been very old fashioned and turned the controls on from above to get Hook out.
