Maleficent is an upcoming 2014 fantasy film directed by Robert Stromberg and starring Angelina Jolie as the title character. The story focuses on the Sleeping Beauty story, but from the perspective of the villainous Maleficent. It began filming on June 18, 2012 and is scheduled for release on July 2, 2014. Maleficent will be released in 3D and is produced by Joe Roth and directed by Robert Stromberg, from a screenplay written by Linda Woolverton

PlotMaleficent, the untold story of Disney’s most beloved villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty,” reveals the events that hardened Maleficent’s heart and drove her to curse the baby, Aurora. 😀

That sounds really interesting! Except enough with the 3D, Hollywood! I hate 3D. Never see films in them.

Sounds good but I am not sure I can watch. I hugely not a fan of Angelina Jolie, but maybe I can overlook that as I have been wanting to see this movie when I heard that something like this was coming out. I love Sleeping Beauty and I would love to see Mal’s side of it. Maybe she has a tragic story behind her scary persona too!!

All set with 3D too. Enough already…

I think 3D can be effective if it is part of the director’s original vision for the film. For example, the Great Gatsby got delayed by five months because the director thought having 3D would be integral to the film and was satisfied holding off on releasing because it was just that important. I have respect for those sorts of choices, but understand that people are tired of every movie getting the 3D treatment in post production as a means of making a few extra dollars when it was never part of the plan to begin with.

That being said, I’ve been looking forward to this movie for a while!
