Emma is Tinker Bell!!
In Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s Peter and the Starcatchers book series, (dream catchers have been prominent?) Tinker Bell makes her first appearance at the end of the first novel. Originally, she was a green and yellow coloured bird (yellow bug?)She doesn’t like being called a fairy and would much rather be called “birdwoman” (swan??)She is very protective of Peter, and hates his paying attention to any other female. She can be very impolite to others (she says she’s not jealous of Tamara but I think a small part of her is…and Emma can be pretty rude lol) She is also able to emit a very bright light, which she uses as an attack against other creatures, especially Lord Ombra, one of the main villains of the series. (Her bright light when she sent Cora flying at Lake Nostos…)
Also interesting..George Darling is the husband of Mary Darling and the father of Wendy, Michael, and John. He is also a bank/office worker, and can be quite loud and boisterous, as well as pompous and self-important. He seeks to attract attention, from his co-workers to his wife and children. However, deep inside, he is actually a kind-hearted person that just wants what’s best for his family, especially his children. In the Disney variant, he is introduced in the prologue of the film as a “practical man”. He believes the stories told by his daughter to be a “lot of silly stories”. The 2003 movie also has George Darling as pompous and angry; he states that he must become a man “that children fear and adults respect”, and he again barks at Wendy for her to grow up, here scheduling formal instruction for his daughter the following morning with his sister Millicent (only thing missing is an f..Millificent..) instead of just kicking her out of the nursery.
What would happen if his daughter was taken by these stories.. this magical creature.. I could see George stopping at nothing to find his daughter and rid his world of the very thing that took her from him… magic…
Again…
Snow white / Mary Margaret = combo of Mrs Mary Darling and her great grand Daughter (Wendy’s daughter is Jane her daughter is… Margaret.. coincidence? I also find it funny that snow is like Wendy’s description…Wendy Darling – Wendy is the eldest child, their only daughter, and the protagonist of the novel. She loves the idea of homemaking and storytelling and wants to become a mothe[/b]r; her dreams consist of adventures in a little woodland house with her pet wolf.
Where did snow spend most of her time… in the woodland in a house and her best friend Ruby is a wolf…just a few ideas plenty more!!!!!!!!!!!

My problem with it, however, is the problem I have whenever anyone wants to suggest that Emma = any storybook character (Wendy, Alice, ect). A and E have always been pretty emphatic that Emma is her own story. Emma does not have an FTL, an NL or a WL personality because she is brand new. If she had stayed in FTL has a baby, she would have grown up to be Emma, not some other fairy tale we know.
But I do agree that Emma has some pretty strong magic and that magic is going to play a huge role in S3."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 3, 2013 at 11:36 pm #190962tiara_roseParticipantFor me she is always the ugly duckling, but love your theorie and the nice pics of you

May 3, 2013 at 11:39 pm #190963MysteryKat25ParticipantThat’s the only issue I have with it as well, Emma is her own character – nothing else.
That being said, I’ve seen many parallels over time relating her to many stories and I think some of them might be little nods but for the most part it’s likely that it just sets her up as being plausible for coming from a FTL family. Anything that relates her to the world of fairy tales is a good thing and makes her “fit in” with the rest, so there are lots of different stories she has little connections to but I love when people discover these and share them so thank you!
There are a lot of them from Tinkerbell apparently (who knew?) which is great cause she should fit in with the Neverland crowd just fine then. 🙂 (Which is good since it looks like the 2 potential love interests in her life might have something to do with Neverland since it looks like NealFire spent some time there since he knows Hook, and then of course, Hook himself).
I know back in the beginning I connected her a lot to the story of Sleeping Beauty as well (cursed hazy sleepy town until their princess reawoke/arrived back there etc) but H&K have been pretty good about saying she’s just Emma so I guess we can just enjoy the nods and be happy that she fits in in both the real world and FTL so well. 🙂
Thanks for sharing though, those nods are really cool!

Yes, she is the Ugly Duckling. K&H have confirmed that numerous times. She just doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere. Neither the outside world, SB or the EF.
