Courtesy of Demileto, thanks for finding the link! It was put it in the Swanfire thread and I’d thought I’d share this really great interview with everyone else. MRJ talks with Diane Reed over at OUATF

The only thing I wasn’t sure about is something I’ve debated myself before: the only people Neal knows in SB (other than Emma and Henry of course) are Rumple and the Blue Fairy right? He was long gone before most of the others arrived so it is mostly a town of strangers but ones that he has a common bond with having come from the EF.
I like the line of thinking and the idea that these aren’t nameless / faceless people but I’m not sure that he “knows” many of them before. I think he has to play catch-up with Henry’s book to get a sense of who anybody is (think he did this is Selfless, Brave, and True).
As for the rest it was great! He seems very personable and warm / funny and very in touch with his character. I completely agree that his main thing is about family and a sense of belonging somewhere.
I noticed that last night too in an interview with Lana where she was talking about Regina’s motivations and wanting family, a real family, cause her mom wasn’t the best etc etc and that’s why she latches on so tight to Henry.
If Regina can turn things around and NealFire gets back, they can both be part of this big twisted family who insists on rescuing even the members they hate (like Charming calling Regina family and letting Greg go so he could help Snow get Regina help etc etc).
Minor side note – *whispers* Seeing them both say their characters main motivations are family just reminds me how I originally thought Neal reminds me of Daniel and that if Regina could pull it together, she and Neal could be good together down the line. She has a lot of work to do and he has other issues as well, but he hates magic, she needs to get off magic, and they both love Henry and just want a nice, stable life with no more abandonment. (*In all fairness I have a backup ship for Hook, possibly, depending on the age of girl cast as Ariel someday. I just think this is a plausible backup potential ship for NealFire* – doesn’t hurt to have backups to keep you sane should something bad happen to your ship, regardless of what it is and I certainly have them for mine*)

Yes this is one thing that bothered me in The Evil Queen. I’m sure Neal could figure out who everyone was to give that list to Tamara but he shouldn’t have just known. Everyone in SB apart from Rumple and the BF came many many many years after he had left FTL.

Now I am having a huge clutch on BaeNealfire. 😆 😆

The show is better with him in it, he could be an amazing addition to an already awesome cast 😉

I agree EastOfTheSun he would be an awesome addition to this great cast He’s got great chemistry with Robert Carlyle, Jennifer Morrison, Jared GilmoreMay 12, 2013 at 1:11 am #193259sanasusParticipantOne thing that strikes me in almost all his recent interviews… is that he always mentions there being more to ‘Tallahassee’ than was shown on screen. Now, I’m fairly certain that the actors are briefed for the press so that they don’t give away too much which makes me fairly hopeful that we might re-visit that time at some point. Maybe that’s just my wishful thinking 😆
He seems like a very genuine and lovely guy. I’m also impressed at the effort that he puts in to roles. He’s just totally adorable. 🙂

There may have been more, according to this Tweet that Neal did not set Emma up for jail from Adam. He says that, then in response to the fan saying basically well if he didn’t how did she end up there, he says “great question. We haven’t shown that yet, but he didn’t call the cops. He just did what august said — leave her to be savior”
Sounds like there is more they might show on that, though I feel it is back tracking in a way for the story. Unless there is some crazy conspiracy link thing going on–like, the Home Office was involved somehow–but how! I can’t even get my head around a crack theory to connect it right now.“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn't. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn't be. And what it wouldn't be, it would. You see?” -- Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking-Glass
May 12, 2013 at 1:25 am #193267MysteryKat25ParticipantSadly there is lots of probably great stuff that gets left on the cutting room floor for most eps (thanks commercials for being SO long…). I think for Skin Deep they were 12 or 18 minutes over, I can’t remember. They don’t typically tell us what was cut because a) it can be used later and b) if it’s not shown on screen it’s not canon.
Things can change at any point in time and since in the future they’ll go off of what was actually shown (typically), whatever was cut could change completely and have the actors still remember having filmed that and not know for sure if it was ever in the show so then they think something has happened that is vastly different from what we’re lead to believe. I’m sure it causes lots of confusion when people are screaming that Neal set Emma up or such and such didn’t happen or whatever it is that day.
If you recall at PaleyFest there was a debate over whether or not Hook's tattoo of Milah was shown and between all of them they just couldn’t remember. (It was, I was excited about it being shown even though I hate tattoos but they went around and around because they remembered filming it and wanted to reference it in an answer and then confused themselves as to whether it ended up in the final cut which…is where things count).
I agree sanasus, he does seem like an awesome guy. Very down to earth but dedicated to his craft for sure.

May 12, 2013 at 1:36 am #193270seven_of_8ParticipantWouldn’t Neil know the people of Storybrooke from their actual stories, just like Emma and the rest of us? He might not “know” them and have an emotional connection to them, but he did grow up at some point and would at least know who Snow White, Evil Queen, Prince Charming, the dwarves, etc. He just wouldn’t freak out about it like we would since he’d already know that they were real people from his homeland. Kinda like Americans and Europe (or where ever our ancesters are from), lol.
