Throughout this episode, we were thinking that the “he” the Lost Boys kept referring to was the Shadow. At the end, the head Lost Boy names the “he” as being Peter Pan who is giving them orders and searching for Henry.
The Shadow and Peter Pan couldn’t be the same person.
- The Shadow brought Bae in the first place, but Peter already had a picture of the boy the were actually looking for—Henry. If Peter was the Shadow, then he would’ve already known that Baelfire wasn’t Henry.
- The Lost Boys said that Peter can riiiiiiiiiip the shadow from a person. I think this indicates that the shadow we’ve seen is one such victim—or maybe even Peter’s own shadow (similar to Cora’s pulling out her own heart).
- With the big setup the finale gave us for Peter Pan, I doubt they would have already revealed him in the last episode.
Rewatch “And Straight on ’til Morning” and I think you’ll see that the Lost Boys consistently refer to Peter Pan, not the Shadow.
So this raises the question of whether the Shadow is actually good and somehow working against Peter Pan. Or maybe the Shadow is an evil extension of Pan and it can travel between worlds while Pan cannot.
[adrotate group="5"]May 13, 2013 at 1:54 pm #193748RumplesGirlKeymasterWell in typical PP mythology, Peter’s shadow is often a mischievous creature who detaches himself from Peter. So while I think I agree that technically the Shadow itself is not Peter, I think it is an extension of Peter. It may have known that Bae was not Henry, but the same can be said for all the other boys trapped in NL. The shadow seems to be bringing boys to Peter for something.
This thread has an idea that I’m sort of in love with. If Peter can rip the shadow from you, maybe he’s using it to remain youthful forever. He is the boy who refuses to grow up after all. And maybe Henry, being a child of true love and but born into a world without magic is the perfect sacrifice. With Henry’s shadow Peter could potentially live forever without needing more boys.
It struck me last night how the Lost Ones seems almost like followers of ancient cults who are sent out to bring back what their “god” needs. They are bringing sacrifices. In the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, 7 boys and girls are brought to Crete and placed in the Labyrinth as a sacrifice for the beast. It could be something similar where Peter needs the shadows to live until he finds that one perfect Shadow (Henry). This potentially sets up Neal and Hook, being the two members of our happy part who have had extensive dealings with Peter and the Lost Boys, to rescue the boys and Henry from Peter which is where I think S3 is headed.

He’s obviously experienced having his shadow removed, because he described it to Hook. And he appears to be the leader of the Lost Boys, making him a favoured servant of PP’s. PP sent him to retrieve Bae from the ship, so it stands to reason that it was his shadow that PP sent to retrieve Bae from London.

But anyway, I think Peter Pan is indeed a real character and he uses his own shadow as a minion. He has such a pathological fear of growing up that he never dares to leave Neverland, sending his shadow to other realms when he needs to do things there.

I didn’t get the feeling that he was the leader of the Lost Boys, just of the group that was tasked to deal with Hook.
Side note: Hook refers to them as the Lost ONES. I think that was a deliberate change to allow girls into the group.

Creepy Pan Gang = the Lost Boys.
Not because they are lost children, that would be the crying boys on the island. But the Lost Boys in the book are Pan’s gang, and these creeps in the cloaks looking for Henry are clearly Pan’s Gang. Ergo, they are the Lost Boys – just not as we expected them to be!May 13, 2013 at 2:10 pm #193761RumplesGirlKeymasterI didn’t get the feeling that he was the leader of the Lost Boys, just of the group that was tasked to deal with Hook.

Yes I noticed that too. Yet, the shadow only wants boys. If it is bringing them to rip out their shadows to stay young forever, boys make the most sense since Peter is in fact..a boy. (until H and K turn him into a girl named Petera which let’s face it, is very possible).
So why did it bring Wendy? Maybe it knew of her connection to Bae and wanted information from her first?"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 13, 2013 at 2:34 pm #193781spinninggoldParticipantI definately get the feeling that Shadow might be a creature under Pan’s control (which makes it very confusing as how to adress them) I think he may need Henry because he is a product of the magical as well as the non-magical world and if Pan can take him over, that might allow him to cross into our world himself, instead of just sending his shadow.
Ok this may be a whishful thinking theory, but the boy that’s “leader” of the gang: Could that be a young Jefferson? The blonde shock of curls sticking out under the hood could be a hint. There was this huge sign saying “Cleaners & Hatter” in Neil’s appartment and in Wendy’s bedroom there is a picture of the playing card soldiers on the wall, so they seem to want to link Bae and Wonderland up somehow. This would start to put those dots together.
Oh and I think the lost boys are the same as the crying boys… They just aid the Pan to avoid punishment and get a slightly better deal than the rest. They aren’t different, they have just resigned to their fate in order to survive.
May 13, 2013 at 2:38 pm #193782RumplesGirlKeymasterFor future reference, they didn’t say his name but the leader (according to the ploy synopsis) is Felix.

I do think Bae and Jefferson know each other but Jefferson’s hat can probably travel to NL and he gone there in search of squid ink and that’s where he met Bae but he didn’t realize it was Rumple’s son.

If you have been a boy for decades and finally grow up into a man, then it would even be logical if you never used your first ( aka boy) name again and would want to be adressed by your last name which stands for maturity. We are still at least 50 years before Jefferson turns up in FTL, and we don’t know how he got the hat and if he made it himself, so the options are still wide open.
Bae just got a lesson from Hook that telling the truth about your past lands you in trouble, so this might be the time he comes up with Neil Cassady.
May 13, 2013 at 2:52 pm #193792RumplesGirlKeymasterAll the possibilities are open, I agree. They can go anywhere with this. But if it is Jefferson then I hope they’ve been talking to Seb because right now the man is super busy and we may not see him again for a long while.
