Finally some new spin-off stuff! From TV Guide’s May 28 Mega Buzz:
How does Wonderland fit into the world of Once Upon a Time? — Betty
NATALIE: Let us take a look back to what executive producer Edward Kitsis told reporters before the show was picked up to series: “Wonderland takes place post-curse, so the pilot actually starts when magic comes and the Wraith happens.” Note the Wraith, because that’s very important to where the spin-off actually picks up, with fans seeing a different character’s point of view that won’t make you angry. Also look for the spin-off to feature other lands in a mash-up style similar to Once that may make you question who a past character really was.Bullet points:
– What character’s point of view could possibly not make us angry? Or is the reference to ‘angry’ meant to be a clue on who this character is, like Dr. Whale’s “Always comes up as ‘victor’ in his battles’ (or however that one was written)? The word WAS italicized in the original article, after all, and that’s usually done to emphasize something.
– “Who a past character really was”: I’m now putting my .02 cents that the character Paul McGillion played in “Hat Trick” and “Queen of Hearts” was actually a White Rabbit cursed by Cora and not the Knave of Hearts, as he was named in the Press Releases.[adrotate group="5"]May 29, 2013 at 12:20 pm #196464PheeParticipantThe “angry” must have significance, given the italics. My best guess right now…Jefferson, the Mad Hatter.
May 29, 2013 at 12:41 pm #196467RumplesGirlKeymasterWho a past character really was??
But we already have a white rabbit, yes? The cutie with the glasses that I would totally buy if ABC mass produced him.
What if he’s the March Hare? Or the Cheshire cat? We haven’t met those iconic characters.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 29, 2013 at 12:47 pm #196468DemiletoParticipant@Phee wrote:

Whoa, that wouldn’t make me angry AT ALL. In fact, it’d blown my mind, as no one’s expecting Jefferson to appear this early in the show, let alone in the pilot, because of Sebastian’s schedule. 😯

I was thinking the White Rabbit because in the original tale the character DOES become a herald for the Queen of Hearts:
May 29, 2013 at 12:52 pm #196470RumplesGirlKeymasterThat’s true. And in several versions of the Alice story, the White Rabbit does work for the Queen. Hmmm.

This sentence is confusing.
The Wraith went from SB to FTL right after Rumple brought magic. And Alice is in Victorian London. Actual LONDON. So…how…?
Seeing a different character’s POV that won’t make us angry: that might be a clue to the MAD Hatter. Gah. Start filming! I want to see if Sebby is on set!"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 29, 2013 at 1:01 pm #196472kranenParticipant@RumplesGirl wrote:

I’m guessing this might have something to do with it? And from the trailer we can see a portal opening up in the middle of Granny’s.
I’ve made myself confused now too.

Indeed! I’ll bet if he’s in the pilot, they’ll keep that info on lockdown. The same sentence as “angry” also mentions the Wraith, and someone else’s perspective on it. What happened to the Wraith involved shenanigans with Jefferson’s hat, so I’m sure he’d have an opinion on it that they could show.
May 29, 2013 at 1:08 pm #196475RumplesGirlKeymasterIt is very possible that Sebastian could be in the pilot. His work on Captain America isn’t leading star, so he may have time off where he could fly out to Vancouver and shoot an episode. He doesn’t need to be in every episode to peek the interest of viewers. Give them a little bit of Jefferson with a suggestion for future appearances and we’ll eat it up.

Having read this sentence 50 times, I’m leaning towards it meaning we’ll see someone from Wonderland in another world. Or someone we’ve seen in another world appearing in Wonderland.

As long as Rumplestiltskin doesn’t double for the Cheshire Cat, I’d be fine with it. CC is likely my favorite Alice in Wonderland character, I really want him to be a voice-acted CGI one like the White Rabbit will be. And that better be an awesome design, because Burton’s is my all time favorite. 🙂
