Wow, so I was just researching about the internet on spoilers for Once Upon A Time, when I think I found where A & E got this wonderful original idea from.

Apparently, there was a television sitcom back in the late 80’s called The Charmings where the Wicked Queen (on this show is called Lillian) cast a terrible spell over the “Enchanted Forest” (yes, that was the name of their land), after they attempted to banish her, and the “Dark Spell” cast all of them to sleep for over 1,000 years, when they all of a sudden woke up in the suburbs of Burbank, California, so Snow and Eric Charming must adjust to living with the Wicked Queen Lillian, who Snow calls mother, the Magic Mirror, and Snow and Eric’s twin boys Thomas and Cory, and one dwarf whose named Luther.

Talk about Full House meets Bewitched. They are simply one big happy comedy family who are fairy tale characters. This series aired for two seasons, and was nominated for four Emmys, and won one Emmy, and nominated for The Young Artist Award, and the kicker is, it aired on ABC at 7:00 on Thursdays, talk about irony!!!

Yes, I heard this before. They may have been influenced by it, but A and E are pretty original and they came up with OUAT a long time ago, back when they met in school I believe.

I actually remember this show and watched it. It wasn’t very good that I remember and I’m shocked to hear it lasted two seasons. It aired here at 8pm (as 7pm is local programming and always has been…must have been 7pm for Central time).

I actually think this was addressed to them last season or at least brought up around fandom. I know people are also saying they stole the idea from the graphic novels/comics called “Fables” by Bill Willingham . The truth is many people have had the concept through the years.

My favorite movie with this concept is “Enchanted”. The evil stepmother pushes her step-son’s fiancΓ© down the well and is forced to go to the most unhappiest place ever…New York City. Amy Adams was just fantastic as the starry eyed Giselle and Susan Sarandon was, too, as the manipulative Evil Queen.

I like the film Enchanted a lot!
I’ve heard of Fables- a friend told me I really ought to check it out.

The idea of fairy tales in the real world has certainly been done before- no concept is ever entirely original. What makes it original is the way in which it plays out.

You must be young! They weren’t in school that long ago! πŸ˜† They are only in their 30s. This came out when they were tots. I bet they were influenced by it.

Actually, 40s. Horowitz is 41 and Kitsis, 42. Both were both in 1971.
