Ever since Emma came to StoryBrooke things started to change; the clock started to work, David woke up, and currently Jefferson disapeured into a hat. I would say Emma brought some form of magic to StoryBrooke but doesn’t realize it.
As for Gold working “Mahic” I beleive Karhryn was hidden somewhere, maybe drugged. I kind of want it to be her heart because Emma would have to open up her mind to the unexplainable and FTL.
