Could not have said it better. than slurpeez108 . Totally agree.
After watching the first 2 sneak peeks, my thoughts are that this is going to be a really good episode. In the first scene, it feels like David is finally becoming a better man by apologizing to Kathryn for cheating on her. Let’s hope it remains that way, and he’d better not fall for Regina’s attempt to seduce him. Also, Kathryn seems remarkably well-adjusted considering the trauma she must have just come out of. Could she have no recollection of what happened to her in the woods?
In the second clip, my first thought was how human and normal Rumpel’s voice sounds. He seems to have more of his humanity at this early stage. It is rather like Golem’s transition in Lord of the Rings. The longer he possessed the ring, the more the ring possessed him. I wonder if Rumpel becomes less human and more creature-like the longer he is the Dark One and the more power he gains. He was able to stop the Ogre War and save thousands of children, but acceding to Bae, Rumpel hurts people all the time. I wonder if Rumpel, in his quest for more and more power, concocts a potion which has the consequence of creating the vortex we saw in the third promo.
Usually sneak peeks come from the beginning of the episode, so I would not count Kathryn out yet. I am interested to see what happens when she meets Jim, the gym teacher, LOL. She is a prime candidate for remembering since her resolve in leaving was to find happiness. She just needs the right “trigger”. I am wondering if we will see that scene where Regina tells Rumple he “broke our deal” in this episode?
I agree that Rumpel seemed most “human” in this clip. I wonder what Bae sees that he doesn’t like. Perhaps the seduction of power — like the ring and Gollum in LOTR as slurpeez108 said. The scene starts with Bae saying he hurts people. Was that Ashley that came in the door with the food? So, Rumpel and Bae are connected somehow to Cinderella? Also, it looks as though their station in life has moved up a bit.
I wonder if they are showing that with the seduction of power comes the inability to always control the “price” incurred when using it? And I wonder if “losing” Bae doesn’t put Rumpel on the edge of his mental “rocker”, so to speak, and he beomes that more edgy person we have become so endeared to?
